I understand you can convert a Fox Talas fork to a Float - can I take a Talas unit from a 2009 fork and put it into a 2012 Float to achieve the reverse?

if you want travel adjust I'd look at rockshox.
fox talas system is a pita and is higher maintinence

I use Fox Talas, had no maint issues at all in 3 years. Changed the lower fork oil regularly and got it service once a year. I ride 4x a week all year round.
The talas adjustment is a flick of the switch, so in real life its very fast and easy to use. You can actually easily do it while riding. You dont have to stop to adjust it.
