Looking at getting a Genesis Day One through cyclescheme, basic help - if hub is described as a flip flop can I run fixie one side and a feebub the other side?

Thanks

Best check, some flip-flops are fixed both sides and some are free both sides. Apparently the threads are different way round for fixies.

I stuck a fixed cog one a normal hub with a dab of locktite and it has been fine so far.

You should be fine, can't think of many full singlespeed bikes that don't come with fixed/free flip flop hubs, worthwhile chesking if it comes with both fitted though.

Flip-Flop generally means fixie one side and SS on the other.

If it's the 42:18 version you're gonna spin out faster than a spinning top at a spinning top convention though and new chain rings are £20 each from Condor about the same for the rear cog.

Smallest you can go on the rear is 16t though.

Have you considered the charge plugs?

the day one is a 42:18 ratio, looks like I need a 16t?

Now this is interesting, there's a good chance of me getting a Day One, (the flat bar version) in the near future. Considering the gears that the old, (pinched) bike had I'm thinking 42:16 will be hard work uphill with work gubbins in the pannier.
