Inspired by the earlier cotic thread...

I'm between 5'11 and 6', weigh approx 13st and ride a cotic soul medium. I've a fair bit of seatpost showing and currently run an SDG micro layback I-beam. I've notice quite a bit of flex on this and i was wondering if this is either something to just live with due to my weight and bike size or if the SDG post was notoriously flexy and something stiffer such as a Thompson would cure it?

I hate stiff posts on a hardtail. I have a shimmed down 27.2mm titanium post on my Specialized alloy hardtail. It flexes like a fishing pole and that's just how I like it. I have quite a bit sticking up too. Thats the main reason I would not have a Thompson due to them being the stifest post on the market. Though they are well made it as to be said.

Pro Vibe carbon post here. I think it's intended to be a road post really but with only just under 11 stones of me to support it hasn't broken yet. Pushing down on the back of the saddle gives an inch of movement and this makes the ride over hard ground laods smoother than any alloy post I've tried.

who tested Thomson posts and found them the stiffest?
I only have one Thomson post but out of all the posts I've had I'm pretty sure it's not the stiffest.

Most people say they are the stiffest post out there but as always I'm sure you will be able to real off a dozen more stiffer posts in true Singletrack fashion. I have not seen a stiffer post anyway. I only ride Titanium posts so its a long time since I had an alloy post!

Do they?

Unfortunately I don't have access to any equipment capable of testing seatpost stiffness acurately enough to real off any facts, and I'd rather not just talk shite, make things up or blindly repeat what "most people say" with nothing to back up my claims
in true Singletrack fashion
