I just got my hands on a Kona Hei Hei CR. I put a bikeshield vinyl frame protection on covering the usual spots including the seat stays wich happen to be flex stays.

Any reason I shouldnt put vinyl on flex stays? Is vinyl enough to change the flex?

Im guessing that even if it did it would be so minimal It wouldnt have a real world effect.
I cant find anything on google but im curius.

I have a 2017 Kona Hei Hei Race DL which has a carbon flex stay rear end and fitted AMS frame protection to the frame, including the outside of the seat stay/dropout junction. I put one cut in the protection on each side half way across the width of it at the dropout to allow it to conform to the stays as they flex. The AMS protection is a bit thicker than most other frame protection, i've not had any issues with it creasing of coming off as a result of the stays flexing as the suspension moves so I reckon you'll be ok doing what I did by adding a cut halfway across its width to allow a bit of give.

Thanks for the response. Thats good to know. I have layed it in a way that there is also a break in the protection around the same area so hopefully it will stay put.
