I usually ride SPDs but went out on flats yesterday due to a foot injury (weak rotation, can't unclip).
I found it a little disconcerting to have my foot hover a couple of mm above the pedal coming off rollovers, mini jumps etc. Is that a technique issue, or just how it is? I was wearing trainers.
Any other tips for a habitual clipped-in rider? The use case is XC/ST/light trail, nowt awesome. Ta.
Make riding flats a toe-curling experience 🙂
Foot further forward, heels down.
... 'eels low - and possibly grippier shoes?
be more loose/relaxed. actually moving your knees helps too.
how long before you can clip in again?
two or three weeks maybe, tho I have been flat-curious for a while.
ta for tips folks.

Yes, 100% technique. Focus your weight into your feet, not your hands/seat. Relax and move!
Relax and move!
Recipe for life that.
