For eldest_oab.

Ideally with grippy sole (not a totally flat skate sole), quick drying and OK in cold and wet. Reasonable price as he is buying them himself. Size 8.5 or 9.

Cheers

I use these for winter. Nice and warm, waterproof and grippy as.

And you can get the tennie guides cheap on the recent 5.10 PSA. Mine arrived on Monday.

Is it worth getting the GTX version do you think or is the standard one good for bad weather too?

What's the recent PSA?

Might have been Canyon, the PSA.

I just got some Freerider EPS off them for £70.

Ankle height, water resistant outers and primaloft padding - they look very promising. Probably not what your lad wants though.

Giro Jackets are really good.

Grippy and seem to be bombproof, have survived a bit of scrambling on slate and grit as well as loads of mud.

Surprisingly good at keeping crap out for what's basically a skate shoe upper, but stiff enough for longer rides.

Good stuff.

adidas terrex trail cross SL are worth a look, have a bit more tread at the toe and heel than the skate style shoes.

Recent PSA was a link to the 5.10 closeout sale. Linky

The other thing to looks at is resoling a pair of goretex boots with the stealth rubber that 5.10 use. I got a pair of Salomon GTX Boots done like this by Lancashire Sports Repairs. Cost about £40 and they’re brilliant. Exactly what we need in the uk

@graemethejock, same question actually, are yours the standard tennies or the GTX? Trying to decide between the two.

2 out of 3 ain't bad- they ****ed these up properly on the water resistance though. Very warm though when they're dry. If they were made of the same stuff as Freerider Elements they'd be great.

Anyone with the tennies any opinions on the sizing? True to size? Fairly wide? (I have square feet)

Cool, cheers folks- just tracked down what seems to be the last pair of tennie gtxs in 9 in the entire world so, let's see how they go. Can't be worse than the VXIs

I have the older version of these, you know what I ride in OP and I'd recommend them.
