(Not for me!)
Looking for some cheap (under £40) flat pedals, which will mainly be used for commuting around London, but also a bit of bike packing/gravel type stuff.
Anything better than DMR V12s for £35 ish?
Thanks,
Duane.
Superstar Nanos in one of their weekly sales. Prefer the feeling of mine to the v12s on my other bike. Grippier, lower profile.
Replaced the bearings after a year, but cheap and they've taken a hell of a lot of abuse.
If it's for commuting and gravel tracks I'd think about plastic. You don't need the sometimes excessive grip you get from metal pins and will do a lot less damage to legs, clothing, your house etc when wheeling the bike.
My Canyon commuter came with a set and I exepected to take them straight off but they're perfect for that sort of use. This is what the Canyon site says they put on the current model but mine look slightly different

I use plastic odyssey ones they are great.
I have had mine for about 5 years, no worries with impacts, kind on the shin for when you may not be in the best footwear.
and cheap.

You can get so many variations too.
Mine are glow in the dark, I have moulded studs not the metal ones.
I'd say look at plastic too, I had the Nukeproof ones on my "just a bike" bike when I wanted to just hop on in trainers.
I like the plastic ones they came with my Canyon too.
I wonder if these are similar?

I have some Exotic ones that have held up well too:

I tried some cheap plastic ones off ebay and there were crap and seized up after a few weeks of winter use.
I got some Welgo DMR V8 copies. Never replaced the bearings/bushings but did pop a small crossed slit in the plastic end cap. Just pump fresh grease in with the grease gun every now and again.
I used to use nanos (or whatever the cheap variant I found was) on my commuter with no problems. Plastic probably just as good.
Don't think I'd bother with SPDs for a commuter bike again if I was doing less than 45mins on the bike each way. Flat pedals are great.
New Superstar Nanos are 33% off today, if your "friend" can buy quickly.

Wellgo MG1
I've just got some Nukeproof Horizon Comp plastic pedals. Only screwed them on this morning and ridden round the block but seem solid enough and grippy. About the same size platform as my vaults.
also looking for new pedals for my commuter but prefer less than £20?
have some DMR v8s but after around 6 months there is so much play in one it feels as if its about to fall off
Thanks all - got the Superstars with 30% off!
Ta,
Duane.
