My son in law has managed to snap an axle on a Shimano XT flat pedal (PD-M8040ML), doesn't look like I'll be able to get spares till July (in UK and I suspect here in Portugal may be the same if at all!).
So what pedal to get that's reasonably priced and will tolerate a 6'8" viking with size 11's?

Wellgo Magnesium flats.

They’ve stood up to years of heavy footed abuse fro me. I have the same size, shape, and elegance of a gorilla on stilts.

Pedalling Innovations Catalyst

Or

Crank brothers stamp, at a budget to suit, in large.

I think the pedalling inovations has ceased to exist. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Looks like the UK distro has closed their doors and in the US the MK1 is still available but the superstar made evo seems to have disappeared.

Ton, yes the BBB's are pretty solid, we used to sell loads of them and use them on hire bikes. Will have a look but don't think BBB is distributed here. 😕

I wouldn't go near Crank brothers. I snapped the axle on one pulling away from some lights. It wasn't even up hill. Shame though as they looked great.

I'm not sure what more you could want from a flat pedal. Tough, light, grippy, and cheap.

Davies/ Gribs, yes, again were very popular when I worked in shop and they are sold in Portugal so may well go for them. Cheers.

In terms of unbreakable, Hope spring to mind. Not that they're indestructible, more that Soares availability is good.

Pinnd are silly expensive but they come with a 5 year warranty and seem designed for durability.

Size UK12.5/13 here.

Shanmasho CVO plastic pedals are huuuuge!

118x120x21mm lots of colours and fairly lightweight.

I've given them a fair few ****s on steps and they've survived. Unlike the Stamp clones I had previously that took one hit and the pins twisted sideways.

Can’t speak for the long term durability yet, but 5Dev pedals seem very well made, bigger platform and lighter than the pinnd ones.
