Hi STW Massive
Looking for some decent flat pedals for my son. He has size 12 feet and looking at Five10 Freeriders for shoes so some advice on what pedals for Sasquatch types. Thinking DMR Vault or V12. I’m averse to buying crap but he doesn’t want to spend a fortune either.
Your advice and/or experience appreciated

TIA

Simon

I'm size 11 / 11.5 and use DMR Vaults & Nukeproof Horizons at the moment. Honestly, unless the pedals are obviously tiny I suspect it doesn't make much difference as only part of the sole is in contact with the pedal anyway.

I actually do think it makes a massive difference - I used to get numb feet from using pedals that were too small / too narrow.

Crank Bros Stamp Large, Chromag Dagga and Deity T-Mac are the biggest platforms I’ve found but are all expensive.

You know what they say about big feet?

They need massive pedals

I'd be looking at the Catalyst pedals if I had big feet https://pedalinginnovations.com/

My mate has them and loves them. They are the biggest pedals out there, but very supportive. I'd have bought some but I'm only size 9-10 and prefer my nukeproofs.

Edit: see above too - just beat me to it.

I've used all sorts over the years (size 13 feet) including about a decade on V8s which have a tiny platform. didn't seem to make much difference, but I'm now on superstar nanos

Superstar nanos too. I’ve got size 13.5, and the nanos are a good size.

Size 14 here, Superstar Nano or the CarbonCycles/Exotic version. Think I've got a plastic Nukeproof set of pedals too, they're absolutely fine. Would mention that shoes are equally as important.

btw, nanos are frequently on special offer. I don't think I've ever paid more than £35 for a pair

For my size 13s? Burgtec composite.

A friend has a set of the chromag dagga pedals, massive platform and pins (to big for my taste)
They are on the expensive end of the spectrum but they have lasted a lot longer than other pedals

Size 13 and had good experience with superstars and nuke proof horizons.

bad experience with crank brother stamps due to the centre being raised.

Was gonna suggest Unite instinct pedals, slightly bigger than nanos but they seem to be totally out of stock everywhere, apart from at Traildogz but only in green or blue, updated version coming soon might be worth the wait.

I have size 13 feet and have tried dozens over the years. The best by far are the Pedalling Innovations Catalyst but in the XL size which are even bigger than the standard ones. Second best are probably DMR Vault or Superstar Nanos.

BITD when I rode flats, I used V12s coupled with Vans TNT.

Before that I used Odyssey Jim Cielencki, and I probably would still ride them today, if they were still available.

(Size 12 hoofs here)

Vaults are quite large, I'm sure that the V11 composite is the same size. Some online stores are selling them for around £45.
I know size 11 is not 12, but before I switched to vaults, I used V12s & V8s and I often got sore feet if I rode a lot. No such problem with vaults
