I recently had a frame made with flat mounts and they're very mis-aligned. The frame I think can be fixed with a facing tool but the threads in the fork are quite wonky and don't seem to be such an easy fix. It was suggested to me that they could be re-drilled at the correct angle and a helicoil fitted to sort out the thread alignment. What is beyond me is drilling the hole at an angle other than the existing one.
The photo shows a metal ruler clamped to the dropout face, and a bolt screwed into the brake mount.
Can anyone suggest where might be able to fix this for me?
Of course my first choice is for the manufacturer to fix this but they are being particularly difficult and denying that there is even a problem, if possible I'd like to get the frame and fork rideable.
I wouldn’t mess around with that to be honest, I’d just reject it.
I’d get the manufacturer to fix it. After all it’s their job to make it right in the first place. And once you have a go at doing it right you’ll have voided your warranty.
Who made it? It might be worth giving others the info so they don’t buy a wonky bike either.
Not sure on what grounds they are denying it. That photo looks like pretty clear evidence.
Disappointing on a production frame, embarrassing on something hand made by a craftsperson.
I'd be naming the manufacturer if they're being as difficult as you imply. I once had an issue with a custom frame that ultimately meant I had to turn it down, but the builder accepted they were at fault and it was easy to deal with.
