Bought a new frame and hadn't realised that it's flat mount brakes.
I'm looking at adaptors for post to flat and I'm going around in circles.
I get that it's disc size dependent, but some places say front and rear are different designs, yet Shimano have only 1 type. When looking at SRAM it's a mass of confusing options.
Would two of the right size Shimano ones work? It's for SRAM rival. Cheers in advance.
Flat Mount on frame and fork and you’re trying to fit post mount brakes?
If so, the vast majority use different mounting patterns front and rear and so need different adaptors. A small number use the rear mount on the front with the mounting bolts going all the way through the fork leg and into the calliper.
Usually you’d need something like this for the front https://www.freewheel.co.uk/aztec-adapter-for-post-type-calliper-to-flatmount-fork-140mm-front-pbad140fpf
And this for the rear https://www.freewheel.co.uk/aztec-adapter-for-post-type-calliper-to-flatmount-frame-140mm-rear-pbad140rpf
140/160/180mm versions of each are available.
If it’s the other way round - post mount frame/forks and flat mount brakes, you’ll need these guys https://www.assolutions.ca/flat-mount-caliper-to-post-mount-adapter-guide/
Discovered that Shimano make 4 that cover every option, split front/rear and rotor size (140/160).
Work a treat.
