Had to replace my trusty old R685 shift levers, so got the bargain GRX from Merlin. Come with flat mount calipers, thought I'd be able to use adapters to fit these to the Tripster... but no, not the ones I've got anyway (see below).
Is it possible to fit these to the post mount on this bike, or do I need to swap the calipers over?

I have adapters like this, they don't fit (front or rear)
Â
Not many forks (or frames) have the clearance to use these adaptors.
Check out the notes on the AS Solutions one:

Looking at the calliper, fork and adaptors you have there... take off the adaptor that's on your calliper, and replace it with the ZRACE one... then see if it'll fit. Don't try and use both adaptors together. This is from that guide linked above...
Â
Ah, cheers. Looks like a caliper swap then.Â

Â
Yeah, tried that, the right angle bit on the adapter just doesn't go into the fork mount, or the rear which has a brace. I would need those 13mm A.S. ones, but nobody supplies them over here that I can see.
Â
Looks like a caliper swap then.Â
Or bigger rotors. If your frame and fork allow it. It's all a right pain in the arse though... I'd swap callipers.
I did the same a while back, and used it as an opportunity to replace the fork with a thru axle version with cargo mounts.Â
I got a cotic escapade one, which shares the same geometry.Â
Cheers folks. I've got some spare.calipers knocking about, current ones are a bit tatty, so good time to swap em out
If you want to sell the grx calipers key me know. Think I have one that needs replacing.
Update: found adapters on Amazon that fit the frame/fork. Means going 180mm rotors, which as mentioned, may not be supported by Kinesis.. and what with the frame being 10 years+ old (and other Tripster v1s snapping!) I think i'll stick with the caliper swap and keep these as a a backup.
They're actually ZTTO adapters but do have to come from good ol China

Â
I bought some Zitto adapters for a drop bars MTB that work well. The 160mm version does have quite a big bend and needs plenty of clearance. The 180mm version might work on your forks.Â
I've swapped the calipers - was going to bleed them yesterday, but found that Shimano had kindly COMPLETELY CHANGED the bleed ports on top of the levers! WTF! I've got about 50 bleed port adapters in the drawer for every sodding brand, but none fit these! So now have to wait for another purchase. Why won't they leave things be?! 🤬 🤬 🤬 😡 😩Â
