Anyone any experience with this saddle - I've used Gobi's for a long time, but not tried one with a central relief. Does it work? ie stop perineum pressure/build up?
Cheers
Have used this saddle for 12 months. Not a bad word to say about it. I have used WTB and Fi'zi:k in the past. The centre relief definitely works. Although I didn't have problem before, it's not until you use it that you realise how good it is. I have used the Tundra which is a bit flat and thought twice about this one because it is 'only' the basic rail model. They don't offer it in the carbon rails. But the weight difference is neglible and not even worth worrying about.
The covering is hard wearing in all the right places and slippery enough where it needs to be in order to aid movement around the bike. It is a little narrower than the old GOBI, so again helps with manoeuvring.
The only down side so far is that the rails are painted and the paint has started to flake a bit around where it is clamped. Obviously you don't get that with carbon or ti rails.
Go buy one!
Somehow I used to like the Gobi saddle but that new model is giving me saddle soreness after several hours riding which the old models never used to. I know i'm getting old as well, but i've stopped using their saddle for now on.
Loved the original gobi, but the newer ones don't suit me for some reason....
Thanks for the replies guys
I actually ordered an SDG Bel Air (before you all posted) as these got much better feedback, and also have the central relief
The main feedback is the Fizik is 'harder' and the SDG is a lot more comfortable. Having used Fizik's for years, will see how the SDG stacks up
Cheers
I'm with Gilles and Monkeyboyjc - I've got on well with Gobi saddles for years for very long rides 50-100 miles on full sus and shorter ones on hardtail. I tried a Bel Air on the full sus and it has not been as good for me - I liked the shape but missed the hammock aspect on rides over 20 miles. Then got a Gobi M5, which was better than the Bel Air but not as good as the more expensive non-channel Gobis.
So now a proper Gobi is on the full sus, the M5 is on the hardtail and the Bel Air is in the parts box...
I've got one and they're brilliant. Very comfy and has been used on long rides with no problems.
Only slight niggle is it creaks like mad and it's nothing to do with the rails or bolts in it. Any idea how to cure such a thing?
Robin - what's the hammock aspect you speak of?
Guessing he means a bit of rise to the front and rear of saddle.
^ thanks
