You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got the ol' gal all clean and shiny for the New Forest sportive tomorrow, so thought I'd take a few snaps!
SE Larger, carbon forks, re-sprayed (eBay special for £220!). Added the Brooks later on...
It's a cracker of a bike, but riding fixed took a bit of getting used to!
So go on - show us your fixed gear road/MTBs...

I'm still chuckling at the tax disc! Kicked up a bit of a stir earlier in the week mind!
I've full admiration/concern for off road fixie riders too...

Rob:
Loving the green pomp there! What gearing do you use for the long rides? Looks quite low to my eye.
I'm looking at getting a Pomp next week, so i'll no doubt have to experiment a bit...
Nice bikes but please explain why ( this is not a troll )
never rode one know nowt about them and am curious what is good and what is bad about them ?????????
Duffer
42.16 bout 70"
gets a bit spinny on big downhills but seems to work for me most of the time
Got a feeling i'll be seeing a lot of the back of that bike tomorrow Dr. Pick you up at 7 (i think you'll be up on time!)
Rob:
They come with 48:16 as standard (i think) which is 81". bearing in mind that i won't be tackling any hills on it, i think i might be ok... We'll see. Cheers!
81" make you strong like bull 🙂

back in the day they were how we all trained on the road in winter... good discipline and simple mechanicals in the days before indexed changers etc etc... You don't need the freewheel on the road, if you are careful.... but...
Bad things... well 34 years later I still have a permanently broken right wrist as a result of a pedal-strike incident going fast on one.
Go on then!
My commuter, totally standard but I love this bike, owned it since October and it's done wonders for my fitness/strength!
Currently running 42/16 but gonna drop down to 14 on the rear as it's flat here and I'm killing myself spinning out, kinda feels like I'm not benefitting as much as I was at the start when it felt like I was pushing a big gear.
Pro's: They make you much man.
Con's: You will probably die.

Indeed, now try those hills offroad on that gear. Look at the funny people who can't ride 81" up big rocky hills. It's like being god, except naughty ladies want to be with you.

Coleman and Toppers - Love your bikes 😀
yup, its at the bottom of the shed with what looks to be a motorbike on it... 😉
it aint got no chain. which i find to be a bit of a pain on the morning commute.
will- cheers.
just ask your fellow commuters for madison slings!
Luckily the only commute it ever sees is a short trip to the track and back. Quite annoying though as I have to swap the bars, the front wheel and add a brake and then ride with the aforementioned wheels and bars on my back. I really don't enjoy riding fixed on the road! Although I imagined that 88" would be more difficult to ride than it is.
Iain
Are people who are switching from bull-bars to drops finding it a better ride??
I've been toying with the idea, but then will need new bars AND brakes. Hmmm...
DrP
am seriously considering doing the exact opposite. but then im using track drops. theyre fine, just think i would prefer some kind of lo pro type bar.
