Anyone got any recommendations for fixing holes in Fiveten soles?
Tried Shoegoo and it comes off pretty quickly.
Someone has told me that Tigerseal will work for filling the holes in.
Anyone tried it?

Tried a few DIY patches and fixes, in the end I sent a couple of my old, knackered Five Tens down to Lancashire Sports Repairs who resolved them for me. Proper sticky Stealth rubber jobs, really good job.

It wasn't cheap, but less than a new pair and bought me another couple of years use. Would defo use these guys again

I've had a pair re soled before but at around £50 I'd rather buy a new pair or try and patch these up.

Watching with interest, there's gotta be some noxious sticky gunk we can splat onto them.

Not any help I’m afraid but I tried Shoegoo myself and found it just came off after a few rides. Also looked into having them repaired but you can sometimes pick them up in the sale for £60ish so doesn’t seem worth bothering.

E6000 is like super-shoegoo but if it's a cracky sole that's just a bollocks to fix

The soles aren't cracked they just have holes and a tear in them.
They always seem to tear where the stealth logo is.
As that E6000 is cheap enough I'll give it a go.

I've had a few pairs of approach shoes done with 5-10 soles by Cheshire Shoe repairs, who did an excellent job on each occasion. Highly recommended.

Tigerseal

I've used Polyurethane Adhesive (that's what Tigerseal is) to attach Aluminium panels to a spaceframe chassis kitcar. It's very, very good for that job and it is quite flexible.

Never tried it on a shoe sole but it's only £10 a tube so I'd give it a go.

sorry, slightly off topic, but where do you get your laces from? Ideally i like the same color and thickness as the original one and i was hoping their might be a specific dealer I'm not aware of rather than a generic seller. thanks

Ive tiger sealed some thin rubber floor mat to teh inside of my 510 freerider soles after the cardboard dissolved. Its stuck bloody well but the holes in the soles have re-opened after the first ride despite the tiger seal oozing out when i pressed teh rubber in. i quite like teh slightly stiffer sole too.

I think youd need to melt the sole back together to better repair a tear. I might try a hot knife next.

I've used Stormsure repair glue for repairing various things before (tents, paddling pools, inflatables etc)... it's a pain in the proverbial to work with as it's so sticky, but it claims to be good for repairing wellies and the like as well, so maybe worth looking at...

Spongerez bodyboard repair glue is great for fixing anything rubbery. Dries flexible too. You can buy it for about 10er a tube.

Take them to a good shoe repair shop. They'll be able to recommend a good fix.
We have a great guy in Leicester (yes I know the hilliest place in the UK) http://www.fixmyshoes.co.uk/
He'll have a go at anything.

You must have a similar person localy.

Good luck

I end up binning them and replace. Most the time when the stealth rubber is going I find it's rotting away inside. Resole is nearly the price of new shoes anyway.

Mc Nett Freesole seems to get good reviews:

Not tried myself but have tried Shoe Goo with varying success.

Good luck let us know how it goes
