Five Ten Sleuth Shoes - Anyone using these ? Would they be any good for long rides on flat pedals, being lighter than standard Five Ten's, they should dry out much quicker. Guessing there a fair weather type shoe and don't offer much insulation ?
thanks
I reckon they would be fine. I’ve been using the five ten trail cross throughout winter with waterproof cold weather socks and they’ve been great as they don’t retain water.
They're a bit bendy for me, as you walk in them the whole front bends etc. I only wore them in the house, but send them back.
I have the dlx version of the sleuth and finding they are great for winter riding.
I wear either sealskins or merino socks depending how wet/cold it is.
Think you can pick them up direct from adidas for £75 and if you look around you should be able to get a discount code to take a bit more off the price.
discount codes don't work generally with 5'10 stuff on their site or app. Even their shorts/jackets.
Tennies it does... but not actual FiveTen.
I was thinking of pairing them with some Sealskin waterproof socks, look like they would dry out quickly compared to Freeriders ? How stiff is the sole ?
seemed to be a standard Stealth sole.
the main thing i disliked about the sleuth was the inner sole was glued in, i prefer to be able to remove to help the drying process.
Think the sole is a standard stealth sole. I've not really noticed any difference from freeriders but others may say different.
I've just tried a discount code and it takes the price down to £59.98 for the dlx version.
Got the code from here
I’d say they are less stiff compared to free rider vxi and impact pros.
Nice for pedal feel but I don’t wear them for long rides
I have them and the Freerider. As a summer cx / light enduro shoe they are great and dry out super quick.
Not so good for snow / cold / gnar / big jumps protection on rock.
I recently sold a pair as I felt they were just like Adidas gazelle with the stealth sole and pretty much no protection whatever. I've got good old impacts for rocky stuff and bought some adidas terrex swift solo for my gravel bike and bigger rides. The soles arent as good as 5.10's but still pretty decent and they have toe protection.
Freerider Pro dry out pretty fast and are suitably stiff for pedalling.
