My 11 year old is looking for new shoes to replace his Five Ten Freerider ELC's - the ones with the Velcro flap over the laces, any thoughts?

I bought some Shimano GR9's but the sole is rock hard. I am sending those back

8.5 is either tiny or huge for an 11 year old.

I have about three or four pairs of ELC's for both my boys. both 11 yo twins but massively different size feet, so one gets the cast offs of the other.

I did look at the bike tart ones Tracey, I am inclined to go this way. He was riding yesterday at Hillingdon and it was so muddy I dont want exposed laces. Thanks for everyones help.
