Just about to change the tubeless tyre on my MK3 Stans Crest rear wheel, currently have a Maxxis Ardent Race 3C on there. Are Maxxis tyres easy to get on this brand of rim? Had a bad experience with my previous Enve rims and I could not get the tyre on and had to take to bike shop to sort.
Iv'e only got 24" versions of the Crest on Jnr's bike...
What I can say is the ONLY tyre that has been difficult was a Maxxis DH (The Stans are strong enough for his weight) ... but that was getting a wire bead to seal.
With Schwalbe tyres (Rocket Ron and a Fat Albert) these are hands down the easiest rims we have. Â I don't expect the Maxxis will be any different...
My 8yr old can fit them by himself with a track pump... although I usually take the valve core out and measure sealant myself it kinda illustrates how easy this combo is...
I have some Giant Carbon P-TRX rims that are a nightmare... getting them on is hard enough... getting them off after they seat is painful... so I know what you mean on the Enve... (I love the "if you need to use tyre levers your doing it wrong" crowd) ... but assuming you can get them OFF the Enve's I'd work on the assumption you can do it yourself...
struggled with WTB & Panaracer tyres on mk3 rims, Schwalbe seem to go on a dream though
Maxxis are the best tyre's i've used for fitting/removing.
Make sure the bead is sat in the well of the rim as you are fitting the tyre on and should go on using thumbs.
Apply a bit of washing up liquid to the rim/bead if necessary.
I've run 4 or 5 Maxxis tyres on my Arch MK3's and they've all been incredibly easy to mount on the rims, most haven't even needed tyre levers to get them, can usually do it without them and it only gets easier as the tyres stretch with time.
