Just about to fit my invisiframe kit. Typically only just read the instructions and they state some baby shampoo diluted with water to spray on first? I've normally just used a drop of washing up liquid/water for this sort of stuff.
What does everyone else use??

Baby shampoo. Kits are expensive so no point cutting corners

Any in particular? I've got the baby, just no shampoo for him so means a trip out.

Aldi own brand can’t remember what it’s called but one bottle is still in use several bikes later!

Think I used Sainsbury's own. The more basic the better. You don't want fancy moisturisers or similar added to it.

Cheers.

Just had a better look in the cupboard. In use at the minute we have;

-Johnson's top-to-toe (for newborn skin and hair)
-Baby Dove rich moisture shampoo
-Baby dove head to toe wash
-Johnson's bubble baby bath and wash

So I'm thinking either the johnsons top-to-toe or dove shampoo, will there being the presence of moisturisers make it no good though?

Didn't think I'd be having an in depth discussion about this at 8 on a Saturday morning 🙂

I just used bog standard Johnson's baby shampoo.
Would have thought the moisturiser will mean it drys greasy.

Cheers all. I've used 5ml to 800ml water as per the instructions.

Excuse the mess, I had to move into the conservatory (which is full of kids toys and clothes drying of course) as the garage was a bit dark and cold.
Had a few hours at it, quite a satisfying job really. Still got the seatstays, BB and l/h chainstay to do.

Any tips - I am about to do my frame, which shampoo did you go with? Top to Toe or Dove 🙂

Johnson's top to toe 🙂 seemed like the most 'normal' shampoo-like, so it'll all of probably fell off by the morning 🙂

I just followed the invisiframe video. Make sure everything is spotless (there is a few fibres in mine I couldn't get rid of, no idea how they got there, it seems to happen when I had to re-position a couple of bits). Wet everything, hands, both sides of the helitape and the frame and then squeegee squeegee squeegee. It will stick at some point just keep at it.

Best tip, take your time.

Also, use a lint free cloth for getting the edges to stick down.

Oh and don't worry about the edges until you're sure the main section has no bubbles! 😁

Natural light. I did mine in the consevatory but it started getting dark, once I put the lights on the glare made it hard to see some bubbles & wrinkles.

^ This! I did mine in artificial light and although it turned out well, there were a few bubbles when I saw it in daylight next day. Of course by then you can't really start pealing it back to chase them out.
If you do get a bubble or two try this method. I looked online and found many people suggesting heating the bubble with a hairdrier before pricking it and smoothing it down. I tried this on the first bubble in an out of sight area and found that the heat made the film too soft and stretchy and I ended up with a small wrinkly area where the bubble had been. So instead I tried doing it cold. Remember that this stuff is self healing so if you prick it and try smoothing it, the hole can seal up before you get it flat. My best results came from inserting a needle into the bubble from the side i.e. with the needle laying almost flat on the frame(less chance of digging into the laquer) then I left the needle in the bubble while chasing the air/soap solution out around the needle with the squeege until you end up chasing the last bit out at the same time as withdrawing the needle. I got pretty good results with this method.
