I can't seem to find an adapter to fir my 10speed shifter to my newer xt brakes...

Matchmakers are for shimano-sram...I suppose I could try to modify them?
Has anyone mated these unlikely lovers together before??

Hmm. I've got I spec shifters on 2 types of brakes. One with indent inside the clamp, one without. They needed different methods - one needed a little bar with a threaded hole in the side. Has your lever got the little indent inside the clamp?

I also fell foul of this exact problem! Couldn't find a solution so brakes will probably be going back!

I changed mine last year - new brake lever, XT, and original ispec shifters. There was a Shimano conversion kit with various bolts and adaptors available at Wiggle. Worked a treat.

Requires changing the top plate of the shifters, all parts are in the kit.

Are you sure? It specifically says in that link "2nd generation Ispec B". What model shifters/brakes did it work with?
