So updating my Solaris 2 with an Angleset - is it an easy job for a budding bike mechanic or do I pay the LBS to do it cos its a faff!

Pretty easy, they come marked with a centreline so you just have to work with that- I just use whatever long straight edge I can find, bit of wood usually, and line it right up the bike.

Then you use the specialist headset fitting tool

("proper" headset presses can twist the headset as it goes in, mallet avoids that. Yes you can cause damage if you're an incredibly fanny, but if you're incompetent enough to hurt these parts by hitting them with a rubber hammer, you're probably capable of destroying anything with anything so it doesn't matter.)

Do try not to accidentally put the forks in upside down but if you do, take a photo.

You have to have the spinny bit at the "other" end of the headtube

It still twists, the specialist tool Northwind it the one to use. Putting the headset cups in the freezer overnight makes it a tad easier too.
