You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So… on a whim, I decided I deserve a bike which changes gear when I want to rather than whenever it feels like it, and which will stop quickly and reliably. So I have a new 2*10 Deore groupset to put on my 2006ish Inbred 456. It currently has a bodged mixture of SLX shifters, Deore and X-7 mechs, Middleburn cogs, Truvativ BB and the original BB7 brakes.
Any STW wisdom to help make this a pain-free adventure, please? I have done all of the jobs in isolation before now, but never the whole thing in one go. I am not the world’s most gifted mechanic, and would quite like to get this right.
Thanks.
go to park-tool.com and follow the instructions on there - lots of detail on each step.
Getting the fr and rr mech stops set properly first time is always the main thing, ime.
