OK, this may sound daft and i'm feeling a little daft...

I've got a new Granite Stash multi took that i bought. Went to fit and and can i heck get the sleeve into the steerer... no sir... it goes 3/4 in and nothing more.

Looking after knocking it back out there's a couple of little marks that make me thing there's a burr or something on the inside of the steerer stopping it from removing the star nut... but i can't see or feel anything obvious inside..

I can't think of anything else though unless i'm being completely dense.

Thoughts ?

Some forks, Fox 38 being the one I can think of, have a steerer that is oval internally & prevent a round object going in too deep. OneUp have a narrow storage capsule for their EDC for just this issue.

Well that's an interesting one matey... and would certainly explain things.

I've emailed the distributor but that could be the answer....

Warning:
-May not work with Rockshox Forks and Fox E-MTB Forks steerer due to the steerer internal tapered construction. Please contact fork manufacturer to check compatibility before purchase.

Well this is a bit odd, the mate I was riding with the other day has his in his 2022 Lyrik with no issue

Not compatible with the largest fork manufacturer…

I guess if tapered, it depends how much the steerer has been chopped before the taper is too tapered.

That’s a fair point, not sure his has actually been cut yet

My previous one was in a set of revelations, so clearly it works for some Rockshox.
I'd say mine are cut yes as they're fitted to the bike. But the simple answer is, the Granite Stash doesn't fit then. So it's destination will be in the Privateer in a week or two.

I thought they developed the RT which is the slimmer version for the bigger Fox and Rockshox forks

I'm guessing this isn't one of those then 😀 😀

Slimmer tool housing fits all different forks even with inner tapered steerer tube, e.g. Fox 38, Rockshox Zeb and Lyrik.

Sounds like you need a new bike

It's due soon... won't be long.

it’s destination will be in the Privateer in a week or two.

If it's the Stash RT i could be persuaded to take it off your hands for a tenner 😁
