... order to get a better chain line?
Is it workable??
A mate has 12spd Sram (GX I think) on a Kona Process and the chain is VERY VERY close to the rear chainstay when in 12th. The chain line when in 1st is, I'm told, quite acute. I thought about suggesting he fits a Boost ring but thought I'd ask on here first
So, will it work, be okay, anyone done it or of course any other suggestions
Cheers
Carlos
Yes it will work but just means the lowest gear will be a more severe angle.
Going to do this myself.
It'll work but not sure it'll make a meaningful difference to how close the the chain is to the the stay. Regarding chainline, it's only a difference of 3mm so it's unlikely to equate to more than a degree or two of difference in the angle of the chain
Thanks for the replies.
The main issue he had with chain jumping in the bottom cog was it was catching on the innertube he's wrapped the rear lower chain stay with to reduce chain slap. So 1st thing was to trim that back and hey presto no more jumping in the bottom cog. However, after having a good look at it in the stand; adjusting the B-Screw, setting the limit screws and re-indexing the gears its running great. But, I think he has a very slight bend in the hanger as there are two gears low on the cassette that the chain ticks on and occasionally jumps. Adjust cable tension with the barrel adjuster to remove this and the issue moves up the cassette. So he's going to get another hanger and go from there.
It also looks like he could remove a link from the chain, but that's something he's going to leave for now
