I love my Blur - it currently has a 90-130mm Talas fork. If I fitted a 100-140mm fork, would it immediately self-destruct and break into bits?
Has anyone had their headtube shear off a Blur?
If a bike is designed for 100mm fork, why does it handle so damned well with a 130mm fork on it?
I had a magura thor -140mm travel fork on my blur classic for about 9 months or so and I certanly didnt die, no cracks appeared in the headtube or anything else untoward like that, however it did make steep climbs fun as the front end got decidely wandery.
The thors have since gone onto a long travel hard tail & been replaced bt a pair of maxle rebas, and its ace like that, just the right amount of travel I think.
It is however in a pile of bits at the moment as the linkage needs serviced, but I doubut that was due to the thors 🙂
Run RS Revelations 110-140 on mine; great going downhill especially with the shock set at 33% sag as that helps bring the BB height back down. Always wind fork back to 110 for flat and uphill.
Frame weighs at least a pound less than a Nickel so you should be able to make up a pretty light, do it all bike..as long as you're not 16 stone and doing huge drops you should be fine.
