Hi,

Off to Coed y Brenin next week for the first time, aiming to arrive about 9am and leave about 4pm.

Just wondering if anyone who is pretty familiar with the trails could recommend which ones to ride to get the most out of our day? Intermediate fitness level but like a challenge but don't really want to ride just one route.

Many thanks

Dan

The Beast and the Tawr are good. Beast is pretty much all the trails on the Centre side of the road. Tawr is the old Red Bull route with a few added bits.

Beast with the short cut after the Cafe.
Come out of the bungalow cafe, go up the road and then stay on the road until you reach the top of the hill, turn right up track and you'll find the trail crosses it. Cuts out a load of road and fire road. Makes the beast the same length as the other long route then, but with all good stuff.

Noooo... Don't mince round the shortcut - you miss the top bit of Singletrack and all the awesome views off the top.

Ok.... So if it's raining maybe not worth going up for the views.

Cheers guys, so you could do both the Beast and Tawr in that time you reckon?
What sort of distance would that be do you think?

Thanks

The Beast is good, I really enjoyed it - 38k I think. Didn't know about the shortcut but there is a section where you seem to climb for quite a while on road/fire road then descend on fire road too. Nice views though.

Just returned from a long weekend in CYB.

Did the Beast (with short cut) on Saturday including 3 laps of the new Adam and Eve section after Cain. Had a great time and hardly saw anyone. Despite the car park being very busy.

Also.....make sure you do the new blue trail. The berm section is flipping great fun!!!

I would do the Beast too and then whatever else your legs will let you do that day. All the trails are enjoyable. just a suggestion (prepares to be shot down with howls of derision) How about doing the Beast and both Loops over at Penmachno if you are on a two day trip.
