Spent the day at Cwmcarn riding the DH with the Cwmdown uplift yesterday, it was my second time at Cwmcarn (last was August 2017) but my first time since they rebuilt the lower half the course to host the first round of the 2018 British Downhill Series!

Here's one of my runs down to the fireroad via the red/black DH trails, I'm still editing my attempts at the new jump run in the bottom half into something passable, so that will be to follow.

Black run starts here for those that want to skip the red:

That is the smoothest POV filming I think I've ever seen. Good job!

Thanks for posting that.....not done that run since BPW opened.

Let us know when you post up part two from the drop off the road to the bottom.

Like that. Haven't been there for at least 5 years and never took the uplift.

There looks to be a few different  lines to take on that run to add some variation?

It's always dropped down my list due to the single run compared to bmcc, fod etc but I do intend to get there again this year.

Thanks! I'm still trying to work out if there's a setting to unlock the horizontal axis so it leans with me slightly, thought it might add to the realism a bit, particularly on berms etc.

I'm also a regular at BPW but I've been deliberately visiting a few smaller venues first this season before my first BPW trip at the beginning of June just to add a bit of variety. I'll be sure to post it up once I've made my questionable jumping look YouTube worthy. haha

Unless you're really into climbing the uplift is a must for me, it's a hell of an ascent to get to the top either by riding or walking! I used my last uplfit of the day to do a half lap of the Twrch Trail, which meant I got to do a roughly 5 mile section of it that was about 80% flat or downhill which was a nice end to the day.

There's 3 options you can start from (1 black and 2 red) which then merge together before the tunnel, splitting again just after it into 1 red and 1 black trail. They both merge again just before the fireroad where my video ends and the last 1/3 of the track is just one run, which I guess is a combination of red/black depending on which jumps you choose as technically it's all rollable.

You never seen gimbal footage before?

ive thought about doing this with mine so that it is always pointing forward rather than trying to correct for the turn. I do like the horizontal effect though.

To be fair there is a lot of really ropey gimbal footage out there where they have been mounted on floppy chest mounts or just setup wrong, it's not as 'plug & play' as I expected!

My worry with that 'heading lock' mode was that if you did a sharp 180 degree turn for example, it would leave the camera trying to follow it's original heading, which would now be opposite to the direction of travel!

I've never got round to testing it as I try not to ride trails that have a lot of berms etc.

you didnt ride the bottom section!

I only wanted to watch because i rode there a few weeks ago

1st time Ive been in ages

after doing the XC routes I decided to push up & do the bit from the road crossing where you stopped.

The BDS improvements mean the previously rutted & ragged berms and jumps are now concrete smooth, first few drops theyve added were great, ubfortunately the big berm under the bridge now sends you much faster than I was prepared for into the big jumps.

It did not end well. My poor jumping skills desserted me entirely, what felt like many metres off the (now much steeper) lip of the first jump

I crashed , it hurt a lot & fked my forks too

I did ride the bottom section but just not back to back with the top after the hammering my wrists take on the first half!

Yer no kidding about the berms! The two big left hand ones have jumps right before them so you're practically entering them airborne, really need to brace the arms against the G-force at the speed you go round them now!

I've had to edit the bottom run a bit to make it usable as none of my attempts at that section were particularly clean. haha

Another cracking little vid OP, I'm down at Cwmcarn later in the week, I'm going to give that black  a go,but probs not as well as you've ridden it!

I reckon you need to be a little less shy and add a bit of a comment here and there, doesn't need to be full on Claudio, but I think it adds to the fun, what dyou think?

Thanks Nick! I actually don't find the bottom black run too bad believe it or not, it's the top stretch of black from the trail head which is the killer as that's where all the blind drops and hairpin bends are!

I keep meaning to try some sort of commentary but I always get distracted by the run and forget to speak. I was actually thinking a Claudio style voiceover might work well as I'd never be able to do a 'sensible' commentary while smashing over a track like Cwmcarn! haha I'm at BPW on 3rd June so you never know... 😉

As promised, a 1 minute long edit of a dodgy jump run...haha
