Hora junior had his first strider session on his new balance bike yesterday. He took to it fearlessly, too fearlessly 😯 knocked a few kids over and face planted twice off the steep sections (as he didn't understand about compression at the bottom of the dips!) but got back up- pushed me away and carried on. A few of the kids didn't really want to be there at all. Some loved it.

So if your near Manchester and have a 2-4yr old- I definitely recommend it! 😀

Got more info on these sessions Mark? Saw the pic on facebook and I reckon DBW jr would be ripping that place up! At the indoor BMX place next to the velodrome?

I'd be up for hiring a BMX and attempting to kill myself... Or a velodrome again. Done that once and it was awesome!

I loved the Velodrome as well- just when you were in 'it' the taster session ended though 🙁

They do it in Birmingham too.

and races, we went to one earlier in the year. Pretty fun, although the 2 year old category was a bit of a comedy event, with most of them not knowing about races at all really, just all going in random directions, stopping etc.

Details are on:

Oh, there is an amazing kid who's parents own a bmx company, who was I think 2, but was made to race in the 4 year old category, because he was just so good, that was quite funny.

Rose went to their races at 2 and 2 months, and wasn't the youngest there. She'd been riding since about 22 months or so.

There were circa 20 kids there. I reckon 4 were better than hora junior. Two were alot older looking, the other two were GIRLS. They seemed to have the confidence and relaxed enough. The other circa17kids were either going the wrong way, pausing ALOT or nor being allowed onto the advanced-bit. From what I gather from talking to a few Dads the vast majority are regulars there.

BMX- yep. I'll find out the next time its available however its a 5pm weekday start if people can make it?

That sounds amazing, link to any pics?

My Mrs has vetoed any idea of Jr racing BMX after watching the olympics though 😐

NOT my pics but they start off on here

Then progress onto the steeper undulating bits to the side. There is absolutely no pressure to do this and only a small handful do. TBH with hindsight I shoudn't have taken hora junior to that side as it was his first session but its done and he rode it/didn't want to come off.

I'll ring them after work and post up availability etc. Its not much wonga so I can book and collect later/check who can do etc. The issue is I can hide how shit that I am on the trails but on a brightly lit track with no follage my skillz will be laid out for all 😆
