First ride out at BikePark Wales of 2019 with the Rhinos MTB crew, which was also my first time riding BPW as a group so I was experimenting with taking the role of follow cam for the day. Numbers were a bit thin on the ground for this trip due to other commitments, but we're heading back for take 2 later in April!

Let me know what you think of the longer format and if there's anything you want to see more or less of in future videos! Would you prefer it was trimmed down to only the most exciting parts, or leave the entire runs in and let the viewer decide which bits to watch?

Trimmed down always good. Maybe pick up seat mount and helmet mount for a bit of variation.

Good vid... Enjoyed it. I was happy watching the full length as it has a few trails i don't know in there.

One thing I'd add is where possible follow a fast rider. Video's can make the terrain look flatter than it is, so following a fast/flowy rider helps give the video more depth.
I know that's not always possible, but when you're braking into corners because of the rider in front - it loses a bit of the feel of the speed (if that makes sense?)
Good vid though.

I've actually trimmed out a chunk of Melted Welly from the start as I think I made a mistake by starting with one of the less exciting trails but it hasn't finished processing yet!

Glad you liked it, I'd actually never ridden Insufficient Funds or Watts Occurring before myself either as I didn't even know how to get to them despite having been to BPW quite a few times!

Yer that does make sense, nothing more fun than watching a pair of riders nailing it down a trail wheel to wheel the whole way. I'm going to get myself on some groups rides with guys who ride this stuff all the time which should be a great opportunity for filming!

OP: WHen did you go and was the Cafe open?

I'm there tomorrow but they had snow last night and are hoping for rain to wash it away. Bad times if the cafe is still closed.

I'm pretty sure the cafe was back open when I filmed this (23rd March), I only went into the main building to get my pass though but it was full of people as normal!

Know what..? Haven't watched it all, but it's like the perfect video for if someone says "What's Bike Park Wales like?" you send them a link to that. The PoV gives a really good sense of it even in the tiny window I'm viewing it on... Nice work. Maybe could do with some disco musique in parts 😀

You should add both. Upload each trail and a trimmed down compilation vid.

Thanks! If I had a website, I'd put that in quote marks on my feedback section! haha

Not a bad idea actually, it would give me a more even flow of content between rides if I uploaded the individual trails as well!

I really enjoyed that thanks mate. I've never been but it seems I could handle the tracks you've shown so I will pay a visit now!

Most of the ones I rode here are pretty manageable if you approach them sensibly. The only one which is a bit gnarly even at slow speeds was Root Manoeuvres which has some really slippery techy rutted root sections (surprise surprise).

It depends on what you are aiming for...

If you want a "rad" video then more edits, cameras and follow a faster rider are all good suggestions.

If you want to show what bike park wales is like for people who have not been then this is pretty much perfect. The slower rider helps the viewer understand more of the tech (rather than a pro just floating over it all) and the extended runs give a really good idea of the trails. You also have a good mix of trails and you have said which trail you are on and its grade. Which is very helpful.

I've never been to BPW but we are due to go in July. This is the best overall video i've seen so far, it gives me the confidence to go there and give it my all. Cheers

I really appreciate that, if you could just copy and paste that into the comments on YouTube that would be awesome. haha 😉

I'm kind of going for half and half, I'd like people to be able to use the videos as a trail guide of sorts, but also to be like "Wow, that guy's ripping" when I let the brakes off!
