Finally getting back in the bike (ok it's a road bike, but I'll take anything!) after 8 months off due to back operation. Not sure whether I'm excited or scared...
One thing is for sure, the bike clothes will have shrunk!
Go for it mate, beautiful day for it.
And indeed it was. No strength whatsoever, but it was damn fine. Good to be back in the saddle
Hope you started easy and good luck with it. Start slow as it's easy to pick up niggly injuries after a long layoff. After 6 months off (knee injury) my first rides went 5k, 8k, 12k, 20k (all off road although doctor wanted only onroad but I hate that) and in reality the 20k was a struggle.
Nice one. Must be the weather for it.havent ridden since late August after I screwed my balance snorkeling but dusting off the croix as we speak 🙂
That's good.
It really is fantastic when you get yourself back in a saddle after a long lay off.
It was a gentle 10mile country roads loop. I've not lived in the area long, but I think I avoided the worst hills as well. Feeling very happy, although waiting to see if the morning brings pain!
What was back op OP? Am currently in non biking mode (7 weeks so far) after back injury and interested to know when might be ok to get back on bike.
It was a discectomy if my lower disc. It was actually operated on at Christmas, but the pain of the slipped disc kept me off from early June onwards. Lots of nerve damage that is slowly recovering. Another 6 weeks and I should be on the mountain bike again - and that coincides with spring!
