Hi all
I'm after a hardtail for my better half without breaking the bank. Budget is up to about £600. 27.5 wheels, one by or possibly two by. I realise a spring fork is likely at this budget but thats fine. This is a bike for family rides on and off road as our kids get bigger. Green and blue runs and maybe a family holiday to the Alps next summer....
I have seen these two which might fit the bill but i'm not totally up on components to know which is better. Another suggestions welcome too.
thanks
I would go 2nd hand and you don’t need a women’s specific bike. None of my bikes are women-specific. I just get one with a small frame.
You'd do a lot worse than the Voodoo Maji from Halfords/Cycle Republic. Same spec as the Hoodoo but £440 instead of £550. Air fork as well, granted it's a Suntour but still. Worth a look at least..

I was in the same situation and we found this at almost 40% off...
We’ve toyed and faffed with a few bits to get it right but mainly for comfort and I’ve put big tyres on to build her confidence today but it’s a bloody nice bike, smart and doesn’t look girly while having 1x11 and great fitting for my Mrs.
*women specific by the way.
That Kona looks great value
Got the Misses a Norco Fluid HT 27+ - mens version, just swapped the saddle for her - she loves it, plus I roode last weekend as it fits well
A solid bit of kit
Another vote for second hand.
Built an On One 45650B for the total cost of £280, that includes deore/SLX running gear and brakes along with Rockshox Sektors. Its a buyers market this time of year and as we approach Christmas I can guarantee there will be plenty of bargains about.
Beat me to it, bought the Voodoo Maji for the wife. 550 to 440 less 10% from British Cycling. Less than £400 for 1 x 10, hydraulic brakes and air fork. The bikes been fantastic and the wifes doing more riding than me as a result.
Can't recommend the bike enough.
Where abouts are you located?
I've got a Laura trott mtb 1 gathering dust, all original spec Raidon forks nx 1x11, 27.5 tyres, hydraulic brakes
Approx 50 to 100 miles on the clock. Basically brand new. Just isn't being used.
I'd use it as a second bike as its pretty decent but the frames far too small for me, amd and the misses doesn't have the time to use it .
I've just sold a Trek Superfly 6, with NX 2x, SLX brakes and Reba air forks. Light, fitted mrs_oab well, handled nicely. £600. Much, much better than what you would get new.
We bought for £700 a Giant Liv full suspension, full SLX, Fox shock and fork. Light and again fits well.
I would go second hand and make sure it fits.
