People do realise that is a road frame don't they?

But there's no hole on the fork for the bolt to go through.

Shameless plug but if its a 29er and you're in need of wheels, I have a set of excellent condition single speed wheels up for grabs, could do either rear or both. They're Crest rims on hope hubs with 10mm bolt up rear.

That may well be the case but I don't do clipless.

This will be a flatland fun bike, I don't have the fitness levels for serious singlespeed use. It will mostly be used for cycle path use around Cardiff, I have other bikes for other stuff. I'm building it coz I can!

It may be some time before I finish building this, having spent many oodles of moneys on bike parts over the last few months on upgrades for my Giant Anthem and Mongoose. Her indoors thinks that stuff for the house has a higher priority. 🙁 I had to tell her about this as she'll not miss it when it comes, its hard to camouflage. So the rest of the build will be a gradual process as and when I can sneak parts in!

Oh and thanks for the suggestions of Charlie the bikemonger and Velosolo - duly bookmarked. Any others out there?

You don't always need to look for SS specific parts. Most are interchangeable. Eg, take two rings off of a triple and as for the rest, don't buy any gears. I also suggest a fixed rear wheel. Much better than trying to stop with a rear brake. If your only going to have one brake, front is always better on a fixie.

That'd make a real nice fixie

any road front wheel will fit but you'l need a track rear wheel with either fixed or freewheel. freshtripe is also good shop. Just google what you need loads of shops out there. Charlie and Velo are the most popular.

fixed + flat pedals with no straps = gonna have a bad day.
freewheel with no brakes = gonna have a bad day.

but its your bike and your face, do what you want and try not to run into anyone else.

OK, build of this bike has started with a few bits trickling in. Waiting for wheels from Single Speed Components and a few other bits and pieces. Got some v-brake clamps for the forks so will have front brakes. Apart from frame, forks and grips everything else will be black. Look forward to finishing this and giving it a try, been wanting to try singlespeed for a while 🙂

Yep, the Dia Compe levers I'm using can be set up for either.
