Never had the time to ride to work due to having to deliver and collect junior from the childminders, but due to car dieing last night I didn't have a choice this morning.
Although a Five with ferkin massive tyres isn't the best choice for a road commute, all in all it was most enjoyable and got in nice and early. Just as well as I'll probably have to do it for the foreseeable.
Now sat outside work wishing I'd checked more thoroughly which keys I'd taken off the fob, at least it's not raining 🙄
Good stuff. How far ?
**If cash is tight, a Yahoo Freecycle ad might net you something you could comuterise with some cheap smooth tyres from Wilkos, a cheap rear rack, full guards etc...
Makes comutering more enjoyable if it's wet.
Hats off though. 😉
Not far, only 8 or 9 miles. Rather more uphill on the way back though so may take the scenic route 😀
Would love a road bike but every penny likely to go on fixing the car. May have a look for something cheap.
I love riding to work. Had a very stressful week at work and hammered it home last night and the stress is gone.
It gets easier.
I could get used to it, but once the car is fixed things will have to go back to normal as I drop junior off on my way to work and don't have enough time to ride in.
Enjoy it while you can.
Bingo!
I did my first commute yesterday too.
18 miles there - 15 back (a few ill-advised directions from a local) on roads I'd never been on previously as usually buzz up and down the M1 in the car.
Route back was much nicer 😉
Recovery drink was a cold Guinness.
