I've just spotted this on the decathlon web site:
Rockrider 9.9

Carbon frame, Shimano XT components, Avid Elixir 7 and a weight of 11.6kg for 1500 quid.
It seems like a lot of bike for the money. Any thoughts?
Decathlon seem to be unable to provide geometry on their bikes. Their road bikes are amazing VFM.
They do offer ridiculous spec for the money do Decathlon. For not a lot more though you could have al look at Canyon's range as well as they push their spec pretty high for the money also...
Cheers

Geometry no, but they seem to be the only people that give the weight 🙂
I briefly looked at canyon previously but found it all a bit confusing. Can you recommend a model of theirs at this price?
You can't swing a leg over the Canyon very easily and as they have a very slack Seat Tube angle they're not for everyone.
I'm not a fan of QR forks/wheels so that would put me off the Rockrider.
Can't vouch for that model but never had any issue with my 5.3, was the best value by miles when I bought it and pretty much bulletproof. Not the lightest but obviously not an issue in this case. Only issue I had on mine was breaking a couple of spokes but they were own brand on that bike, unite the one you are looking at.
the lightest XC fork in the world
Cushioning
NEW system, 110mm rear, 120mm front: for enjoying performance in comfort!
They always deliver with the captions on there.
Has it got some sort of strange eccentric linkage? Thought it was a single pivot until I had a peep at the pics.
It's what the Yeti SB66 was ripped off from.
Only in size XL and, based on previous Rockriders of this ilk, will feel very racy and be a bit too steep and hard to handle for a new rider. While Canyon are good value, if you're a new rider I'd go and get something from a local shop and try a few. See what you like and buy local so you've got back up right there when you need it.

munrobiker speaks a lot of sense.
I've had a Rockrider (6.3?) - it was a lovely bike and an absolute steal for what I paid. BUT after-sales wise: complete and utter disaster.
Thanks for the link. I had missed that one.
It's suggesting it's more cross country rather than an out and out racer. I'm interested because of the low weight, carbon frame (rare at this price) and good components.
I'm 6,1 and I've tried their other L and XL and I prefer the XL based on my long arms.
Getting a phone number off their site is tricky. I phoned my local branch in the end. They have 20 XL's in stock in the warehouse (in France I think). He can request one be sent over if I'd like to try it. I don't want to waste his time, so I'm pondering at the moment...
ive had a 9.1 for the last 2 years and its been a great servant,i actually thought about the 9.9 before i opted for the Giant Reign 2 as i wanted more fork travel, but you will love them, very well spec'd.....
and as you say you can get a leg over and try one for size....
A friend of mine has the alloy version with slightly more travel and really likes it.
The design has been about for years, so if Yeti have 'borrowed' the design it must be ok?
