done this yet? looks pretty good, if a bit pricey, but what price not having to check if it's dried out, top it up, and being able to wash it away with plain water?

I'm waiting for stock to arrive. Looking like it's about a month away at the moment.

In the meatime you could get one of the other sealants that doesn’t dry out (eg Juicelubes)

Tried that, didn't like it (I like their lubes though). Have always gone back to using Stans and that's what we sell where I work. The FL stuff looks interesting though.

fair enough. wasn't aware the juice lubes stuff had similar properties. have only used stan's.

any good? will it play nicely with stan's do you know?

Been using Oko agricultural tyre sealent which doesn't dry out and seems to work fine.

It's very thick so requires watering down.

Looks like  it’s an American equivalent of OKO (particularly since the comments on that post talk about ATV products from the same manufacturer).

I’m using watered down OKO on a couple of our bikes at the moment.  Still haven’t had any evidence that its been tested yet (ie no puncture that’s seen it spraying out then sealing).  last time i looked in the tyre i added a bit more water.   the tyres its running in do seem to lose some air so not sure its sealing the sidewalls or the bead in the same way that latex sealants do.

I’m going to keep running it on our hardtails but i’ve Just bought 5L of Hutchinson latex sealant for £60 that should keep me going for a good few years on the suspension bikes.

I use the OKO sealant and it isn’t as good as Stans in some respects. Porous tyres do tend to suffer and ghetto setups don’t benefit from the glue effect of a latex sealant.

However for a serial tyre swapper it’s cheap, doesn’t make your hands itch and i dropped a small amount in my leaky ghetto inflator which now holds 120psi overnight.

After Stans repeatedly concealing into a puddle at the bottom of the tyre i will definitely try this out.

Tweaks (I know....) has it on pre order. 😉

What is the environmental impact of those kevlar microfibres?

Yes, Stans and other latex based sealants congeal after a while.  And if you add more, it will do it again.  So I suppose you cold say that it is repeatedly doing it.

I wonder what the fibres are made of in OKO.  When i had a look at my OKO’d tyres there are bits of what looked like shredded paper in there.  Seems like a similar type if ‘fibres’

Probably not biodegradable. But unlike cosmetics use of microbeads its not like you're flushing a tyre load of sealant down the drain every day. So not really that much worse than any other plastic part.

My fat bikes had diluted oko in it for a while now with no punctures so it seems to work.

Only in the workshop so far on a road tyre with a large hole that stans just pissed through. It sealed it quickly and holds pressure over 80psi now. When I get round to bringing my mtb & cx bike to work I'll be putting some in the tyres.

It’s quite expensive.

Yes, but you don't have to top it up as it doesn't dry out.

Interesting that in the video it showed a big hole being made in the tyre but didn't show what happened when the spike was removed . That alone would put me off , plus the fact that Stans lasts over a year for me and in that time I have either worn out my tyre or swapped it .

its a bold claim for fl

only time will tell

as its a fluid that relies on the little microfibers to properly plug an hole I can imagine it sealing a hole ok but it is very very thin and make sure you give it a good shake before using as the mf do sit at the btm of the bottle as you would expect .

I personally don,t like stans and have been using juice lubes  with good results but time will tell .....real world reviews wont be a vailable as its only just been releases and the biggest claim is it doesn't dry out ...time will tell

GMBN had a video from Sea otter showing it at work including how fast it seals after being punctured, if it works like that in the real world then it could be worth the extra money

Got a litre of it today but I wasn't sure it would arrive in time so I bought some stans race stuff from the lads at the local bakeshop. Once I have used all that I will try it out.

I had tried the stuff from a big name former DH rider but it was literally the shittest sealant I have ever used. Both tyres were new, front tyre slowly lost pressure, rear tyre just doesn't seal up and goes down in about 25 minutes. I tried everything, watering it down etc. In the end I cleaned it all out, filled with Stans race stuff and bang, both holding pressure fine. Thats me done with that brand of products then....

If you watch the video that is one thing that you don't have to do as the particles are in even suspension .

Hey guys, is this stuff in stock anywhere yet? I'm all out of stans and need to get something asap. This stuff reads well, was gonna try orange seal endurance stuff as I've found stans a bit rubbish recently, but although pricey, I'm keen to give this finish line stuff a try, maybe split a bottle with a mate or two.

Just called my LBS about this due to a discussion on the 'sealant for road tubeless' thread, due into the UK this week apparently.

I bought some. Road tubeless I’m afraid. Tape was really dodgy so replaced. Added sealant. Tyre lost pressure. Retaped as thought it was me, added sealant, tyre list pressure. Cleaned out tyre, added orange seal, bang. This is proper tubeless road rims, Schwalbe pro one tubeless ‘easy’ tyres. It can only be the sealant. So £14 for a bottle of weird dodgy frogspawn looking stuff and two lots of tape, stick with what you know I reckon.

Unless they have changed it significantly recently, I can confirm that claim is rubbish... as was their sealant.

Did 40km of rocky peaks goodness without losing any pressure on the E-MTB, running the FL stuff but all the dust means its hard to see whether it had to actually seal any punctures though.

Personally I'd wait for at least one more independent review anyway, seeing as Stans are a major sponsor of MTBR.

That doesn't make any sense.  Surely if your tyres were dusty you'd easily see any sealant goings on...

So I'd say on your ride that the sealant probably had no job to do in this instance.

For road tubeless (same combo as heliuscc) I found Mavic's sealant to be very good. Small bottles though, so pricey. (Good bottles to re-use for squirting sealing through the valve though)

I bought a 240mm (8oz) bottle yesterday as I've been itching to try this new sealant.  It is utterley useless!!!  The tyre is a Schwalbe Furious Fred, which is a few years old and on my full rigid MTB.  I removed the tyre and removed all the Stans latex that had been sealing well.  I cleaned the tyre to point where there was no dried latex remaining on the inside of the tyre what so ever.  Refitted and added half the bottle (120mm) of Finishline Sealant.  Rolled it around and pumped up to 30psi to start with.  I got it to seal eventually, put the wheel back on the bike and pumped up to 40psi, straight away it started to leak fast again.  I managed to get it to seal again. repressurised to 40psi it leaked again. I repeated this several times, it kept leaking from small thorn holes (not around the rim).  I tried ridding the bike and everything I would normally do when using latex.  I have now inflated the tyre at least 15 times and every time the tyre leaks through a small thorn hole. I wouldn't dare to try and ride the bike anywhere, I have absolutely NO confidence in this product what so ever!  I will be demanding my £14.99 back when I go to the bike shop next.  Stick to latex!   I never had an issue with this same tyre with the same small holes whilst using latex.

First real world test of the Finish Line sealant on my cx bike today. Pulled a big thorn out of my front tyre and it sealed instantly 🙂

Out of interest are there any decent reviews of this sealant?  I used it once then binned it as crap, now I’ve noticed that STW are recommending it as part of a paid promotion on the website and Facebook

I might be imagining this but wasn't there another thread about this that came up a few days ago?

I could be totally wrong! Lol

Crap, really crap. Wouldn't seal the smallest holes. Lots of sealant inside the tyre when I checked. Trash, do not buy! Don't believe the hype.

Back to Orange Seal Endurance which I've found works really well. LBS said they'd order me some a few weeks ago so called in today to pick some up. Was informed they didn't order any because they had better options available. Pointed me towards the Finishline sealant and I had to tell the person in the store how shit it was several times. Oh well even less reasons to use my LBS.

Its basically shit , takes twice the amount stated to seal on a hope rim with a Bonty XR3. Dont waste your cash.

Seems to be holding up my wire bead Surly Knards just fine. They aren't tubeless ready & had Stans in them last winter.

Just bought some summer tyres for the Spitfire I'll be using it in very soon.

When it stops raining long enough to warrant summer tyres.

I’ve been using it since it first became available. I’ve used it on WildAMs, Wildgrippers and Mountain Kings. When you first put it in there seems to be seapage through the sidewalls. After the first ride that goes away. It has dealt with burping after I’ve made the odd poor line choice and gone through bigger hits than normal, and it’s dealt with thorns ok. I’ve yet to gash or cut a tyre with this stuff in. I put a 3-4mm cut from flint in a tyre with Orange sealant last year and the Orange sealant dealt with it after a few spins and a fair bit of spitting. I’m not so confident this Finishline sealant would do as well. But I am convinced it will still be there long after the Orange has dried up. Swings and roundabouts!
