As per a lost thread over the weekend I wondered what is the correct thing to do .

you are riding a trail centre and come across a nice bit of kit in this case some nice Bloc riding glasses .
would you
pick them up and leave at the centre cafe / bike shop.

pick them up and tell the Bike shop / cafe you had them and leave a number and address.

pick them up and just keep . ( not correct thing to do IMHO )

I'd do the above as you don't know if the folk in the cafe/shop etc will pass them on either.

I'd also put a "found" thread on here too if it was a nice bit of kit.

good to have some kit karma

I'd pick them up, then place a few notices up asking for the owner to get in touch with me. I'd then hand over the kit to the police as evidence to support a prosecution for littering.

Drop them at the shop/cafe/visitor centre if it was open.

If not then I'd probably leave them somewhere prominent where I found them in case the person returned

Honestly, I'd hand 'em in.

Didn't make it up to have a look as I was doing the sportive instead (that bike doesn't like the rough). Normally I would either put it on top of a post or drop in Cafe/shop depending on how busy the trail is and when it is.

Though it does seem people keep "loosing" tubes etc round the trail, collected a few thick maxxis ones for crud catching duties!

Maybe someone picked them up to hand in?

Yes we are going to phone the visitor centre tonight as a last resort.

The Mrs lost a brand new paramo jacket on a busy hill in the lakes, I like to think that the anonymous stranger who handed it in felt as good about it as she did when she got it back. Id always hand in.

I have a theory - picking up litter on hills, rivers and trails = karma to find kit. Two weeks ago = huge RIB full of cans and litter from lochshore. I drive home that night to find a canoe throwline, pretty much new, no name or number lying at the side of the road. A few 'found' posts on suitable forums = me has nice new throwline.
I have found maps, hats, sunnies, a canoe paddle etc.
A colleague has a canoe found pinned in a river that he rescued, handed into police and became his a few months later...

A couple of years ago, I found a nice Altura jacket near Feizor . . . which fitted me perfectly!

However, in the pocket was a numbered receipt from a coal merchant in Settle, so I managed to use my stalking skills (and help from the coal merchant, and a pub landlord in Stainforth) to return it to its rightful owner.

She was delighted to get it back, as it was a birthday present, and sent me a £10 voucher for the "Knackered Old Man" teashop. And then I found a similar jacket half-price in my LBS . . . so everyone was happy 😀
