Hi

Been riding more downhill so am looking for a helmet/goggle combo that doesn't squash your nose

I have tried giro switchblade,  ixs,  7idp and 661 helmets with 100% and fox goggles and all combos press down too much on my nose restricting breathing

Any thoughts or recommendations on combos that work?

Cheers

Been a few threads recently on this, I find combination of nose and non DH FF lids is poor for me so most of the time I ride in glasses for full fashion points 😉 Others are suggesting cutting foam out around the node to sort it out but it's all about trying them out

I looked at cutting out the nose foam but that basically means cutting out all of it.

Guess ff helmet and sunnies might have to be the way to go

Cheers

I've got a Giro Switchblade and it's horrible with the chin guard fitted. The extra weight makes it rotate forward and push down on goggles. It's so annoying I ended up buying a D3 in Morzine. It's fine without the chin on, I'll end up using it as just a trail lid.

A proper full face is always better. I've never had one that moves around like the Giro does.

Yes, all goggles pinch your nose where the foam bunches up at the bend. Just use a sharp knife and slice out the section that covers the bridge of your nose. Start small because you can take it out but not put it back.

Your helmet was the wrong size or shape. The parachute did that to me because I ordered online (needed a FF for racing and nothing in stock locally) so I sold it on and replaced it with the Switchblade which is snug, it's still crap with my goggle nose interface but that has a lot to do with the shape where the goggles sit compared to a regular DH FF

Probably too big😂😂

Will try cutting out more nose foam. I got a pair of melon goggles coming to try out. Seems a shame to have to trim out foam

All the helmets I have tried are dh ff apart from the giro unless I am missing something in the spec?

Thanks

I had the same issues, tried a few different goggles with a few different helmets in the past, but always ended up with a squished nose or having to tilt my helmet back more to make room for the goggles which then alters the fit of the helmet which isn't ideal.

Ended up buying a 100% helmet and using the 100% goggles with it, I was surprised how well they both fitted, problem solved!

Actually illegal (unless in Morzine, of French origin, combined with lycra & all the armour on the outside).

I found the cheaper goggles without the 'outriggers' make it worse. I have a D3 & a Proframe which I use goggles with & have no issues. (mind you, Oakley Airbrakes are not cheap!)

I have noticed no nasal squishing with my Urge Downomatic and Scott goggles (Recoil model I think).

Fit well with the Met Parachute too.

Both helmets in Large, IIRC

I have the Giro switchblade and the 100% goggles are rubbish with the lid

in fact they ain’t to comfy with my trail lid

i have a pair of Smiths Fuel v2 Google’s which work really well with the Giro and a pair of Scott goggles which also wear really well with trail and Giro switchblade

I have a switchblade with Giro goggles and it works fine.  My nose is quite big.  Also agree if the switchblade is tipping noticeably forward as you ride, it's too big.  It's not the lightest helmet in the world but it shouldn't be flapping around that much.
