Filing cabinet jokes aside, I am trying to find a creak that has developed on my orange five.

Tried;
Saddle rails (removed, cleaned, greased, refitted)
Seat post (removed, cleaned, greased, refitted)
Chain (degreased, lubed)
Chainring (removed, cleaned, greased, refitted)
Bottom Bracket (removed, new one fitted, frame has previous been faced and threads are all good)

What's next to try?

QR is maxle, so I suspect less likely.

Stem is good contender, bolts are daft torx things and never seem to tighten properly, might have to pick some proper hex ones up.

Will try gear hanger too.

Thanks

Whenever my old Five creaked it was either the rear QR or the shock bolts.

spokes +1

I thought my BB was on its way out due to the creaking that was in time with my pedaling. Turned out it was loose spokes with grit stuck between them and they flexing / rubbing when I pedaled causing the creaking noise.

So do you tighten them progressively and opposing corners, to the specific torque or rag one up then move onto the next one? In my experience many many mysterious creaks are due to stems unequally tightened and frequently overtightened. I'd suggest from your description you may well be trying to overtighten if they aren't already stretched.

My singlespeed was creaking last week - given that it's hardly got anything on it, you'd imagine and easy fix…after stripping and greasing BB, pedals and hubs, t turned out to be the chainring bolts!!!

Given what you've described above, I'd go pedals next - regrets and also make sure they are tightened to the cranks well

And the winner was........

Spokes!

Stem is still a tiny bit creaky, but nothing compared to what it was, thanks for the advice 🙂
