I've been trying to organise a trip to Finale for late 2020 but it's been a struggle organising my riding mates, herding cats springs to mind. Is anybody aware of an option to tag on to an existing group or if it is possible to go solo? The enquiries that I have made so far are based on minimum group of 5 riders.
Try Michael Cycle from the Garda thread. He may be able to sort you out and I can't rate him high enough after our recent Finale trip.
Thank you!
You could give MTBbeds a try also, there was a couple of guys that were on their own that came with our group a couple of years ago - the trip was excellent.
i'll pass this on to my FIL who is going and facing similar problems afaik
I was going to post something very similar. My riding mates are impossible to organise. When we do get out they're happy to grind around at 5mph in Peak District slop.
I've been seriously considering solo trips to Finale, Malaga, Tenerife etc. The big one is Whistler in August. Bottled it last year when I couldn't find a travelling partner. Might just do it alone this year.
Thanks!
sharkattack let me know if you find anything useful, the MTB Beds recommendation looks like it might be a viable option.
Sory. I'm finding it tricky working out what your question is....
Is anybody aware of an option to tag on to an existing group or if it is possible to go solo?
Are you asking for advice on booking a trip for you and your mates or dumping them and going alone?
Which bit are you struggling with, the flights, the accommodation or the uplift?
Is there anyone there offering single uplifts? I'm going on a roadtrip next July and visiting relatives not far from there but I've read it's way to hot to ride there at that time of year. On the off chance that the weather is cool enough I'd love to have a day or two there.
thegeneralist, sorry for confusion, I may be looking for a company that allows a solo or 2/3 person booking. The companies that I've contacted so far are minimum group size of 5 people.
i went solo with MTB beds. Really good. They probably thought i was a tit but I had a greta time.
Most of Finale is geared up for day shuttles there are only a handful of package operators, and yes they require a 5 min to keep the week going (90% of people stay 3 days on average, mostly german weekend trippers)
If you're struggling give us a shout we have a couple of slots, but we are located sanremo side.

Not that I know of. It's not that kind of place. By that I mean the runs don't start at the top and end up back in town. So doing single runs would mean you'd end up in the middle of nowhere and have to find your way home. Plus practically nothing is signposted and the riding is spread out over a huge area.
Hiring an Ebike would be an option though
Plenty of single uplift places, most will do up to Rollercoaster or NATO Base for €10.
Thanks to all!

Hmmmm. Complete opposite of my experience. Did a week there with the wife and two youngish kids. Apart from a mediocre day with Finale Freeride we had an excellent week getting single or double shuttles to NATOBase etc and merrily wending our way down various trails. We generally caught the next shuttle from town again, which was no great hardship, but also got them to meet us at the bottom of the tech at times.
Search my profile for the family fun in finale thread.
@theturl I know you pain, I have the same problem trying to orgainse mates on to trips, which is why I've gone solo on the last 3.
As above try MTBBeds. I'm going Solo with them to Finale in October.
@Sharkattack I've traveled alone on trips with BasqueMTB and Riviera-Bike both of whom were great.
You could try Francesco at rideoveryonder.com
We went to Finale last year and he was happy to guide 3 of us for two days. He's a top bloke and I'd recommend him no problem.
We did our own thing on the third day and just picked up a shuttle to the NATO base from town (we were staying in Final Borgo) and re-did the trails we'd done previously.
maybe we should all go solo... together.... 🙂
@thegeneralist Thanks I've read your thread and thats what I would be looking for on this trip.
Another time I'd love to go back there when it's cooler
Been finale 3 times now using just ride finale with Louise, top rider and a great guild. Throughout the time we did do other trips/uplifts with a couple of other companies like finale free ride. Although we went as a group we did have single people/other small groups join us for a random day. Yes you can just get an uplift to the nato base but better to do a fall package with uplift and guild away from the nato base.
Have you looked at CycleActive? They run trips to Finale. They do need a minimum of 5 people but not from one booking. So if there are already 3 of you them getting another couple if they haven't already should be doable.
Loads of places will do single up lifts. Just ask.
Ultimate Bike Shop is generally a good place to start from as that is where the majority of shuttles start from.
You'll also be able to tag along for a shuttle day. In fact, this is sometimes easier when on your own than when with a group.
Download Trailforks. Everything you need to know is there.
Airbnb for accommodation is easy enough. Either Borgo or Marina for restaurants and ease of access. If you get a place in Pia it's a bit of a drag to get around the hill to the shuttle pick up points. (However if you're happy riding ~350m up it's a great starting point up to Le Manie where a lot of shuttle companies don't run to.)
Flights to Nice or Genoa. Train to Finale. You might find a shuttle service willing to do a transfer to the airport, but train is easy enough with a decent bike bag.
