Tha [/b]Hackney Bicycle Film Societies August show[b] will be the cult BMX movie [b]Rad[/b] whose reputation has only be enhanced by its extreme rarity having never been released on DVD and on only released as a video in the states. Although it bombed commercially this film had a significant impact on the BMX scene and contains some amazing freestyle riding scenes.
Released in 1986 and directed by Hal Needham, "Rad" charts the meteoric rise of a BMX riding paper boy named Cru Jones, who through hard work and determination, rises up to beat national BMX race pros on a track dubbed "Helltrack." The film additionally featured freestyle riding and acting parts from major BMX race and freestyle pros, including Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Danny Millwee, Kevin Hull, and Mike Miranda
