File tread gravel tyre life expectancy

My gravel bike came with tubeless 40mm Cadex AR tan walls, according to Garmin I'm some 2000 odd miles into them and the rear is almost bald, the front still looks brand new. I've had one proper puncture (on the front and on road). Otherwise trouble free.

Most of the miles are on road but I regularly ride gravel and bridleways in all states from dust to deep gloop. 50psi on road 30-40 off. I'm 84-85kg.

I like the tyres for my use and would be happy to replace with the same but is 2000 miles a reasonable lifespan?

TIA

Sounds reasonable, especially for a higher performance type compound where you might sacrifice tread life for grip.

My Terreno Dry was maybe smooth in the centre after as similar mileage. Continued riding it for ages after though, I reckoned on any soft terrain the shoulder knobs would be biting anyway, wasn't really sure if the file tread was anything more than aesthetic anyway!

+1 on for a tyre used off-road as well as on-road that is fairly reasonable.

mrs_oab's Continental Contact Speed wore well, but it only takes 2-3mm of wear and it was bald in the middle...

Thanks, good to know.

Previous tyres were G-One All Roads which I liked but started to suffer punctures once the tread had gone.

What are folk's experiences of front to rear wear ratios, ie. if I stick a new rear on, will the front likely be shot at 4000 miles? I can then swap both to a non tan wall tyre so I can mix and match without committing any major aesthetic crimes in the future.

Coincidentally, I've a nearly new set of 40mm G-Ones left over from my dead CX bike I was planning to swap over at some point.

My northern roots may be clouding my judgement here... 😀

My front tyres barely show any wear! I just put whichever tyre is freshest on the front, on the basis that I'll always want a bit more grip on the front tyre, and the rear will quickly end up worn anyway.

Depends where you ride, I had a Conti CX tyre go bald down the middle after three days on the back in Dartmoor grit, but i don't seem to to touch the fronts. Front tyres are next year's back tyres.

To be fair, my old Conti CX tyres (pre- Black Chilli) were some of the fastest wearing tyres I've ever seen!
