Anyone know if the coastal path from Aberdour East is passable by kids bikes?

From Aberdour to Burntislad?

If so it's not too bad for kids depending on age. A couple of friends take theirs fairly often through the summer.

Aye, that’s the stretch.

Havent had a chance to do a recce but my parents reckon there are stretches of portage?

No portage between Aberdour and Burntisland along FCP

there some stairs to negotiate if coming from train station

if coming up from harbour steep hill and some stairs going past hawkcraig but they can be avoided

What’s it like between Burntisland and Kirkcaldy?

There’s a few steps to contend with that likely result in a bit of carrying but aside from that a well made packed gravel path. It’s lumpier than the section between Aberdour and Burntisland.

You’ll also be on the road between Burntisland and Kinghorn unless you head inland past Kinghorn Loch. Which would involve a relatively steep climb on a path that’s seen better days and gets quite muddy.

I wouldn’t have thought there’d be any portage to be honest. I’ve seen quite a few young kids along there on bikes. Depends on the kids really.

I’ll have a look at that the next time we go up; can always have an ice cream in Burntisland and then go back along to a Aberdour?

Yes that’ll work. Novellis is a nice stop with the kids. We even took some Italians there who enjoyed it so it must be half decent. And you can round it off with Sands A Place By The Sea at Silver Sands Aberdour if your really hungry (same owners I think), the Sea Food Bucket is a repeat order of mine. McTaggarts is nice too. None are particularly cheap options if budgets are an issue.

Theres a big car park at Silver Sands (sometimes it’s pay and display, sometimes it’s not, take a couple of quid just in case) if you’re looking to keep the distance down as well. Although you could build in an extra little loop Aberdour end to take in Black Sands and the point.

If for any reason you headed up past Kinghorn Loch there’s a wee cafe up there too. It’s not big or busy buts it’s in a nice little spot and if you get the fire side seats a pleasant place to spend a short while.

Well familiar with McT’s; was in there on Wed after taking the kids on a walk from the Silver Sands round last the harbour. We hadn’t taken the bikes up with us though; next time we go Novellis it is (and train back if it all goes pear shaped)
