we bought a fiamma rack for our T5, barn door model , no matter which way round i load the bikes they touch and rub together. I've spoken and sent pics to the Uk supplier and they're sending out a longer clamp bar to try pushing the rear bike further out at the top . Anyone else using had the same problem ?

How many trays on yours?

We had no problems with our 4x on the T4 until I bottomed out going over a railway crossing with it fully laden (15+14+11+10 = 50Kg) and I put a little bend in the horizontal arms. Didnt trust it after that so gave it to a mate for his family BSOs and I got a ball mount one.

To avoid rubbing you need to slightly offset the axles as the rear QR can rub the front fork leg otherwise. And also twist bars and raise/lower/remove seatposts.

they only do the barn door one in a 2 bike version , weight on the hinge when loaded and open i guess . yup the bikes are rubbing on fork-cassette and we have to drop the seat post , not something i want to keep doing with Ti and carbon posts .

yep, the distance between the bikes is tight. I just make sure that all contact points are padded. Also, the bike nearest the van door has to have its handlebars turned sideways avoid contact with the bodywork.

Take the seatpost out instead of dropping it?

I always keep some of that grey foam pipe lagging with the bike rack - the 15mm stuff seems to have enough sping to stay on without requiring additional straps or bungy cord to hold it in place.

No way of off-setting the trays a bit more (maybe even with a bit of tactical bolt-hole drilling)?

they suggested drilling the very out side of the support tube , prob give an extra 15mm , but the rack would be on top of the curve not on a flat surface . i've asked for a longer rack mount , just waiting for an answer back from Fiamma . the UK supplier agrees its not fit for purpose and will give me a full refund ,but has asked me to try the loner clamp arm first .

You got it. I used to have the same problem with rack on my old barn door T4. My T5 has a similar rack but with the long arm thing and it's fine. Did take a few attempts to get the bikes located OK. Usually one one was and one the other, and remove saddles.
Good rack though - seems solid.

a very easy fix , shame Fiamma didn't spot the problem during their R&D
