Fatty is possessed. Well its drive train is anyway. Seemingly whatever gear is selected, the spectre haunting it will choose another one after a few minutes. Is there some trick to getting SRAM stuff to behave or is this the price of cheap components and I need to just accept it as disposable plastic tat to be gotten rid of at the earliest opportunity, a bit like the acompanying Avids?

Suspected that would be the case. Think I found the problem: bent cassette, not all of it, just 4th & 5th which takes some explaining.

Nowt wrong with X5. It work the same as anything else IME.
Sounds more like a bent mech hanger to me...... Or some other setup issue.

Edit
Sorry misdeed the bit about the cassette. But it boiled down to the same thing. 🙂

Got X5 on my charge cooker and it works perfectly. If it's changing up or down randomly that'd suggest that the cable tension isnt set correctly, or your cables are in need of replacement. Could be an alignment issue with a bent hanger or something?

SRAM rear mechs are sensitive regarding the length of the last bit of outer which goes into the mech too.
