Is this an uneconomical way to do a week of biking singletrack mountain to beach type riding?

Whenever I've looked, the ferries are really expensive. Only racks up better than flights if there are a few of you and you're planning to hire a car.

will substantially cheaper if it's just you and a bike. Foot passenger tickets are pennies.

For a trip to santander from portsmouth expect to pay about £200 return with a bike.
But be aware that its close to a 24 hr crossing and that price will just get you a reclining seat.

I had a look for a bit earlier in the year, late February to early March. Quote was £555 return for a T5 van and myself. Did some sums (I was looking to head to Costa Blanca and camping and I found it cheaper to fly and stay in a hotel on half board basis.
