Is there a fender, or mud guard thread yet this year? I tried a search but this is STW.

About ready to remove the Fox short fender that bolts around the air bleeders. Just wondering if there's anything better before a buy the XL version for the winter.

I have the fox XL and it's quite short compared to something like the RRP proguard. So expect more splatter with the fox. I'm not aware of anything longer that uses the fork leg mounts. I'd just get a bolt on proguard and forget about the leg mounts.

I've also looked at the Mudhugger Evo which will bolt to the brace and has space for zip ties or straps to secure the guard to the legs. Maybe that's the way to go.

Fox XL is 350mm. Mudhugger is 515mm

I bought the Fox XL one when I bought my 36s this time last year. Not overly impressed TBH.

The biggest issue I have is that there's a raised lip on the back edge which sucks and compresses thick claggy mud stuck to the wheel into the gap between guard and jams the wheel. My old Mudhugger had a straight edge there which I could set up fairly close to the tyre and would just plane the mud off and I never had it clog.

Also - while it makes the guard nicely stiff, having to remove the bleed buttons to fit and remove the guard feels like a slightly hazardous procedure if the bike is anything less than surgically clean - too easy to get grit into the lowers. I discovered I can't get my bike in an Evoc bag when going on holiday with it fitted so had to have it off at either end of the trip, and it certainly wasn't clean at the end of it!

I've just gone through the same. Have to spin the forks to shorten the wheelbase to fit the evoc. That leaves even the short fender facing forward and asking to get snapped off

+1 for the RRP Proguard. No removing bleed valves or needing zipties.

Mine has been smacked around a bit, but bounced back.

RRP Proguard bolt-on here. I've got 3 of them which stay on all year round.

There's also a Syncros fender that fits the Fox mounting points... it's sort of half way between the two official Fox ones. It doesn't have the raised lip at the back:

I've got the syncros one too. It's tiny and only suitable for summer use, for me at least.

Does anyone else get tyre rubbing with the pro guard? Not sure if it's the wheel or the fork flexing but mine does rub a bit under bigger compressions.

I like the SKS one.

I've found the Fox ones to be too fragile, and have broken the mounting points on the ones that I've had in the past.
