Out on the trails on Sunday. starting to warm up niceley, it's all bleeding coming together. Then crunch....a huge twig leaps in to the rear wheel desroying mech and gear hanger rips off. Ah well. I sort a dogy single speed to limp home. after about 6 miles of running and chain crunching pedaling. I get a puncture. I am now not so calm.
Then at this perfect moment a group of Roadies ride by shouting and taking the piss.
Deeply hurt I stood in the road with my jaw on the floor. I sobbed softly to myself as i fumbled for my mini pump.
nasty nasty men.

p.s.
not that i dont like roadies, I am a roadie.

That's a bit crappy of them... I ask any cyclist in trouble if they have everything they need to get going again, regardless of road/mtb/nichemonger status.

Piss taking should be reserved until you have at least stopped and said hello.

Sound like a bunch of pricks, fair enough taking the piss if then helping out but not just riding by... if you know what club they are in then see if they are on strava then cheat your way to few of their KOMs to get your own back 😀

Sound like a bunch of dicks. Everyone gets in a spot of bother occasionally and it's just not practical to carry the tools and spares for every eventuality.

Me either or anyone who's jeans are so tight they can just about squeeze in a fashionable lock and not carry anything else. Anyone else I'm more than happy to ask if they're ok and offer assistance.

Haha! I'll be remembering this one, just in case.

They were probably just going out for a nice cappafrappachino and didn't have anything useful to lend you. There's only so much stuff you can carry in your Rapha lycra and you don't want it getting all greasy.

In a group, or alone, I / we will stop to check if assistance is required - even if the rider is part of a group.

Even our tarmac troubling cousins - I turned the car around to offer assistance to a roadie last year, having seen him walking up the grass verge (near our home = I knew he was likely not close to his home), Pinarello over his shoulder. His Dura Ace rear wheel had imploded.

Turned out he was 20+ miles from home. His only real sign of anguish was the rollocking he was due off his wife, who was on the way to collect him. Seems he was already in trouble for opting to go for a big ride...
on fathers day! He was going to soften the blow by waiting in the pub!

Oi don't paint us all with the same brush...I ride a fix from time to time....although I don't wear messenger bags or my roady cap if that helps.
