After months of thinking about a new bike I went and did something daft yesterday and just ordered one.
I haven't sat on it, I haven't checked my size, I haven't even checked any reviews as its a 2016 bike, I went on a whim of what I wanted.
650b - Check
120-130mm travel - check
Small frame - check well I'm guessing its right, I did sit on the bikes bigger brother and have a blast on it so I know the size is approx right.
Deposit paid.
Ah what did I order, Specialized Camber comp 650b.
I love my canyons and the spec, but also my old camber was an awesome bike, I'm hoping I haven't made a massive mistake!!
Anyone else done the same? or any words of advice? both my other bikes are now up for sale on ebay not enough room for n+1 🙁
You're now n-1, you should feel very daft indeed!
Enjoy the new bike!
New bikes are the best kind of bike

Ooooh! The Hora.
You have a style I admire.
Carry on.
The only bit I would question is the comp bit. I changed both wheels, headset, bottom bracket and forks after a year on mt xc comp as they were all knackered. Don't know what the specialized spec is like now but back then I did the same as you and just hit buy.
As much as I admire your impulsiveness, the only aspect that would concern me is the sizing. If that's wrong you'll be making compromises to get it right. Everything else you should be ok with.
I am keeping my road bikes, so n+1 still, I had a blast on the stumpjumper comp 650b and in small was perfect looking at the charts and spoke to the speshi concept store small should be right.
Well done, it's better than spending it on a car that sits in your driveway or a new ****ing kitchen/bathroom/decorating or similar crap.
I did similar two weeks ago so don't worry - there's always someone else who's just as daft/irresponsible with money 😀 . Up at Bothy Bikes (aviemore) i demo'd a 2015 Scott Spark 720 E-bike in large, i'm on the small side of medium so i had to reverse the layback seat post and sit on the nose of the saddle whilst stretched right out but within 30 mins i returned to the shop and ordered a 2016 Scott E-Genius 710 650b+ in medium so that's me well over £4k lighter by the time i get a spare battery, I've never even tried the 650b tyre size nor have i rode a FS bike as i've pretty much rode rigid 26" since the very early 90's……….I can't wait till it arrives in January though - it's gone be a right hoot to ride.
I'm keeping my Cove Hummer and my Kinesis Tripster, along with my old ss town bike but I'll prob sell my soulcraft frame if i get what i want for it - there's only me to justify it to and that's easy enough. Do i want it?….Yes…so buy it
Both my other bikes on are ebay, neither have bids but have 15/20 watchers respectively so hopefully a last minute bidding war. Got the email my new bike is going to be a week late, bugger no bike for 4 weeks looks like lots of road riding!
Drac, shouldn't that be 'oooh, the Hora of it all!'
Just checked the spec up the range, all the headsets and bottom brackets are the same from the comp up to the expert, although they only do 2 650b versions, mind is thinking should I of gone for the 29er?
