Been procrastinating on buying a new stand for a while now, and just came across this:
Feedback Sports Recreational Stand, £80 at Winstanleys
Anyone got one?
Seen some good feedback (ha, didn't even mean to do that) on there other stands on here, which look really nice but are spendy - largely, I think, because they're sturdy AND lightweight/compact. Mine will only be travelling from the garage to just outside the garage and back, so less bothered about the second bit. Just need sturdy and durable.
I have one of the spendy ones , it's awesome.
Love mine, daily professional use.
After sales service us ace too.

APF, just to be clear, which model? Recreational or one of the other ones? Cheers
i have a version of that (it has a quick release button on the clamp) from when they were Wrench Force, daily use for the last two decades i guess, couldn't recommend it enough, buy that
the QR one (under the Ultimate name I think) is one I've got, been spot on for many years. Was reviewed by ChrisG I think, and I've had no cause to regret it. Just works, stable, packable.
Has been borrowed by my LBS mechanic/owner to take to events over his own Park Tools one..
Thanks AFP. That one looks good, but the head looks that same as the Recreational one, and I'm not sure the stand is worth an extra £50 if you're not intending to take it to races, etc.
The Recreational one says "Ultimate" in the description and has a folding head - I guess that's what you mean by QR? In which case that seems like a solid recommendation.
I have the Pro Elite one (it's the nearest I'll come to being Pro or Elite) and it is very good
I used to have one, now have a Park, wish I had old one back :/

I have the Sport Mechanic one - same (non-quick release) head but with the sturdier 3 legged base. Used daily for 9 years and still going strong.
I have the sport one its wicked.
I've had a Lidl one, and a Park PCS9.
This is light, solid and easy to use
I have also attached a magnet strip to the side of the head of mine so I can have tools to hand without a tray.
I have the pro version (older) as stated here it's awesome. The main advantage is that it collapses down when stored, which is a great space saver and really useful if travelling with the stand.
Issues over about 8 years ownership: The rubber feet wear though and I've had the hard plastic shim in the main part of the stand crack twice (which renders it useless). Cheap enough part to replace, one was a warranty replacement and the service from Feedback was spot on.Think they've fixed this in a recent design update.
I also highly recommend the attachable tray. If you work on bikes frequently enough it's a good investment.
Seems like there's a lot of love for Feedback stands, as expected.
I've seen a couple of reviews, notably one on BikeRadar which say the rotating clamp isn't strong enough on the Recreational. Looking a little more closely, although it seems to be the same clamp as on the Sports Mechanic - a cylindrical knob (Sports Mechanic - Recreational) - in some shops, on the Feedback site, it shows a three-pronged knob* on the Sports Mechanic.
Anyone shed any light on that?
I also highly recommend the attachable tray. If you work on bikes frequently enough it’s a good investment.
I looked at that. First thought was "£30 for a plastic tray?!" but it looks really well thought out and if it makes life easier it's probably worth it. Somewhat disappointing that it's not included with the price of the stand, but I guess you have a choice and quality doesn't come cheap.
*titter
Went for the one linked in my OP in the end, and it arrived today (despite finding some negative feedback on here, I can't fault Winstanley's (yet)).
I opened the box, unfolded it, and stuck my commuter bike in (not the lightest bike, but not the heaviest - about 12kg on my scales, so less than half the 27kg rated weight). There was no way I could get the clamp tight enough to hold it straight without breaking it. Really disappointed. It will be going back. Obviously should have gone for the more expensive one, but the clamp looks identical.
Seems strange... I have a Sports folding stand with the same large knurled knob and it supports my 14Kg 'big' bike OK - even in some weird angles and with the stand at full height.
odd ,
i have teh red pro one and it supports my Long tail Cargo E bike which is near 70k and silly long..... I wouldnt like to work on it but it holds it up and straight .....
Obviously should have gone for the more expensive one, but the clamp looks identical.
Are you talking about the clamp that holds the bike or the clamp which adjusts the angle on the stand? I've just picked up a feedback ultralight (£60 for a minter on eBay) and its a stunning piece of equipment - its got a different clamp then the Sport and Recreational though.
clamp or the bar not engaging?
I have (like t_r above I think) the old Pro one with the three pronged knob, none of my bikes are really heavy (well maybe the general purpose one) and it holds them securely..
OK, given the comments, I thought I better give it another look before I sent it back - I was trying to make returning it smoother by using it as little as possible (I literally got it out the box, put a bike in, and put it back in the box).
I'm still not very impressed with the clamp. I managed to hold the same bike (by the seatpost, which I wouldn't usually do, but is what's recommended by Feedback. The weight is quite unbalanced this way, which isn't helping) at an angle by tightening the knurled wheel as tight as I could get it, which felt perilously close to breaking.
The problem is obvious - it's only friction between two flat surfaces (one metal, one plastic) that's stopping it from spinning. Pics
and
. Why there's not some sort of engagement - even a textured surface - beggars belief. Looks like a cast aluminium and injection moulded plastic part, so it's not like there'd be any expense in adding some teeth or something.
It's back in the box for now. I might keep it, but I have a feeling I'll never really be satisfied with it and will end up replacing it at some point.

Lucky git!!
Evening
If you are having problems with anything Feedback Sports I want to fix that.
I'm available on 0131 419 4147 X 254, you can email me on markdownie@2pure.co dot UK
We get almost zero returns or warranty issues so if it isn't right we need to look after you.
Mark, 2pure.
I have a pro elite, with the tray. Every time I use it I'm glad I have it. Its solid, the clamp is good, it packs up quickly and is generally a very nice thing.
Hi Mark,
That's very much appreciated. Will be in touch soon.
Cheers, Dave
Thought I should update this thread.
I contacted Mark (ojom) from 2pure, the UK distributor, as above, who went the distance to sort things out (thanks again). He would have been happy to sort out a warranty return, but first suggested trying some carbon assembly paste on the rotating clamp, which he sent me a small tube of.
I was dubious at first, having never used it before, but it's amazing stuff. It actually makes it quite difficult to separate the mating faces with the clamp undone, without taking the weight of the bike - which is both a good think and a bad thing, but definitely better than it slipping.
I've now used the stand quite a bit - a full frame swap, and fettling of another two bikes, including my steel 27.5+ bike and full-sus (both fairly heavy bikes) and it's done well.
It's a little disappointing that the assembly paste is necessary, and I guess it might need re-applying sooner or later, and I'm not 100% confident in some of the plastic clamp parts (maybe I'm being pessimistic), but I know now that the distributor will stand behind the products, which makes a big difference.
Bottom line is if I had £80 to spend on a stand, I'd buy this again.
