Has anyone on here got any experience of the Fazua Evation e bike motor?
Looks a great idea if you don’t want all the power of a heavy e bike.
The E Zesty looks a great bike and weighs less than my acoustic full sus!
At 65kg I wouldn’t need a powerful battery/ motor and really like the idea of being able to use the bike conveniently.
Hi, I've had an eZesty since October. I've used it a lot over winter and on plenty of different types of rides.
Full Disclosure Before you read the following you should know I am very fortunate and have the use of this bike from Lapierre UK. Nonetheless, there isn't a huge amount of info out there on these bikes and I enjoy writing. This is what I have learnt since using the bike.
A few things I've noted on the range. Eco mode(Breeze) and when riding hard I've managed 58kms with 1200meters of climbing. In full power mode (Rocket) I've ridden really hard myself and managed 28kms and 750m of climbing. Equally if I've ridden gently and in colder weather I have had it go flat in 20kms and 550m of climbing. Which considering its a 252wh battery I think is good.
The more effort the rider puts in, the less reliance there is on the motor, in certain circumstances.
The battery is relatively light, you could pop a spare in a backpack or even the back pocket of a jersey if you really wanted to. The power is definitely useful, and noticeable. I'm closer to 80kg and fit but it makes me smile every time I ride it. I have ridden full power ebikes, too.
Maintenance is probably a little more intensive than on than most esystems, mainly due to the nature of the design. You will need to brush it clean frequently to keep dirt and dust away from where it shouldn't be. The system does have many joins and dirt will find its way in eventually.
It's a very capable bike, I wouldn't be able to get near its limits. But I like that, if I'm honest. I usually ride road or xc , I do like to ride fast and I am harsh on equipment, I love the feel of this bike.
It's quite a long bike. I'm 1,79cm and on a size large. I would say I would also fit a medium and would have been as comfortable as I am on this one.
The bike does feel light, both for its size and for the motor, which is ideal for loading into vehicles and anytime you're not riding it but maneuvering it around.
One quirk/bonus of the fazua system is that it is customisable to an extent. You can completely transform the characteristics of the motor. Not the output, but the way it kicks in and levels of assist for the modes.
I wouldn't call this a review, just my thoughts on a bike I've enjoyed using. If I've missed anything please feel free to ask.

Do you ride without the assistance to preserve battery/ extend mileage? I could do some huge loops from home up Swaledale and back but that involves some serious elevation!
If I was a young ripper the Helium Knox looks a hooligan but as I’m not the E-Zesty would suit me well.
Currently ride a Mega 29er and Scout Hardtail 29. The E Zesty geometry looks similar to my Mega.
i`m toying with getting the 'wife' a kinesis rise HT with the fauza system. the only issue is that it costs the same as my full fat FS ebike so justifying this is tricky!
I’ve been told delivery on the Kinesis will be January 2022 so plenty of time to save up!
My dad has the E-Zesty Ltd. He 73 & about your weight. Much prefers it to the S-Works Turbo Levo he had before as its a lot less weight to heft off drops. From what I gather, the disconnect above 15.5 mph is a bit less draggy than his old Levo too. I reckon one of those with a spare battery could be a winner for longer rides. You can even get a proper bag for the spare battery too.
At the moment I’d have to sell all 4 bikes to afford the E- Zesty! Im hoping that a few more Mtb brands get on board with the system.
I’m not very heavy and not that strong so a full blown e bike would be too heavy to manoeuvre around.
Just seen the Trek E Caliber Fazua powered range- look fast but I’d prefer more travel than an xc bike
I’ve just got the kinesis Rise pro, last L4 they had. only a few rides so far and have to say it’s pretty sorted for the money.
The motor system is great gives you enough extra power to get you up the hills.
I have to be fair and say I’m the other end at about 110kg so for me I think the range is going to suffer with one battery I did a quick 10 mile loop used river for most of the ride with a few blips in to rocket and by the time I was back at the car there was only one light on the remote, could be needs a few charges needed to get battery working at its maximum. but I’ll see.
But so far impressed with the motor system did have to,take the bb off and clean threads out and re torx the bolts due to a strange noise second ride but after that all good so worth a check on that may be when and if you get one.
I've also got a kinesis rise, had it since last summer. I like the Fazua system, constantly toying with the idea of a second battery. There are quite a few lightweight systems now, spesh and Orbea being obvious alternatives, but Trek going with Fazua seems like quite a big boost to the uptake of their system.
My findings are a single charge can get me around 900-1000m of climbing over about 3 hours or 35km ish, of climbing or descending without much "along" time. But in honesty, I do have to be economical to get that and constant power management isn't all that fun. If my riding wasn't mostly blasts around climbing and descending singletrack for about 2-3 hours, I'd want a spare battery in the bag. Tuning your modes helps a lot - I reduce the watts on the lowest green mode to give a minimal general boost and save battery and flick it up the modes when I need to, rarely if ever using rocket (red).
For all riding over the limiter, I don't really notice it's an ebike though (not as much as I notice the 2.5 maxxis on the bike!) and that's what I really wanted.
Reliability has been fine. Got an annoying squeak around the BB now though that I need to go chasing.
I have ridden it without the assistance, suspension locked out on road sections to get from place to place. It really is a dragees system, you can spin the motor with your little finger. It takes 2-3 rides for it to reach its maximum efficiency as it beds in.
It’s a confidence inspiring bike and it does pedal well considering. You could always tune the eco setting to be very subtle and provide just enough assistance (30-50watts) to compensate for the slightly increased weight.
Thanks for replying, a friend has the E- Zesty and loves it, only uses assistance when needed as he didn’t want a full blown e bike.
23 miles, 2700 feet of climbing and be had 45% battery left. That’s great on one battery.
He did have an issue with the battery not holding charge but was replaced with no problem.
That is seriously good going! I’d like to try using it with the sleeve that replaces the battery and motor.

My friend hasn’t had his E Zesty long but loves it. Just been reading an embryo forum and seems a few folk have had the motors fail and issues with the rear triangle. Apparently there is a lot of play in the back end and the frames are prone to snap?!

Also wanted to ask (probably a stupid question) if the motor is drag less over the maximum assistance speed then I assume it’s drag less when used with the assistance switched off?
As in setting off on a ride acoustically and using assistance when needed.
Yes it's not a system with noticeable drag when switched off. Evidently though any ebike is going to be quite heavy when pedalled unassisted and at least in my case, often set up with heavier draggier tyres etc, because that efficiency seems less vital. So I can ride mine unassisted but the lack of motor drag doesn't mean it's fun!
I just set the low assist to around 90W to compensate and save battery,but rarely turn it off entirely unless I'm trying to really push the battery life.
